To put a lot of spin I use a wedge 52 degrees to 60. To get spin you want to connect with ball on the downswing. And deffinitely try to make solid contact with the ball before the ground. Another thing you could try if that doesn't work is a softer covered ball because the way spin works is that the ball when it hits the club moves up the club face until the cover of the ball sinks into the ridges. Therefore the softer the cover the faster and more the ball will generate backspin.

Wedges up to around 9 iron are best if your clubhead speed is less than 100mph for the driver.

A clean hit, and not allowing the clubhead to pass your hands through the impact zone are key to imparting backspin on the ball. Even a half shot can have loads of spin if you accelerate while keeping your hands ahead of the clubhead. Slightly thin contact will still impart backspin, while fat contact will just send the ball skywards with little backspin.

Good luck, and tell me when you've had your first spinning shot.

The best club to put spin on a ball with is any short Iron or wedge. The key is to have clean sharp grooves and to hit down on the ball.

the best club to put spin on a ball would pobably be a 64-degree wedge because it has the most loft and more area to grip the ball. You also need a clean lie, ball designed for spin, and clean grooves. You need to hit the ball first, then the ground, and dont flip your hands to help it in the air.

Your 52, 56, 60 degree wedge, the key is accelaration through the ball and make sure you hit down and keep your hands moving.
There is also a club called the buzzsaw that helps with backspin.

Hi,
gotto understand why do u want to give it a spin and where on the course r u, closer to green?
assuming closer to green/pin - any wedge should be good, and a scooping action from the bottom.
