When commuting in High Stress Inner-city Areas I always carry mace!
I would rather get done for Assault than get My Head Pulped!
What is it with drivers and cyclists? I guess cause they have a Combustion engine they think they are Macho!!(NOT!!)

No I have never been pushed physically but I have had more than one person try to run me off the road. Some of them just because they wanted to mess with somone and because some people dont know how to read a drivers manual and understand that bikes are vehicles as well and are suppose to follow all the same rules of the road except for speed limit. These people that do this are just complete and total idiots. If you were hurt in any way I would have gotton the guys name and called the cops. Granted much might not have been done to him but it would show him that you cant do stuff like that to people.

absolutely! ive been "attacked" so many times. not physically attacked, but drivers through crap at me. theres alot of haters on the road these days. i got too close to some guys BMW and he threw a lighter at me when he drove by, which did hit my $2000 bike. some idiot even beeped at me then swerved into the break-down lane were i was riding and almost knocked me over the edge of the road- a long way down. i think they're jealous because us cyclists can do something that their *** will never be able to do! my advise if this happens to you: take down the make, model, and license plate # of the vehicle. call your local police department (NOT 911!) and make a complaint about that car. they'll pay a visit to that person and you'll get your justice. if you ride a really expensive rig, carry a bb gun in your backpack. the ones from airzoft.com look authentic and will scare away anyone.

I ride in NY and I was verbally attacked once by a gang of teens as I was passing by. I think the best defense is prevention and trying to avoid situations like that but it can't always be done. Not much you can do but be extra careful becuase there will always be people trying to hurt you for no reason.

It sounds like a crime was committed against you. I hope that you have a tag number or name.
Florida just passed the 3 foot law. Vehicles must pass with a minimum of 3 feet around cyclists.
The worst I have ever had to deal with was people honking at me and then yelling obscenities.

In Colorado, we have a state wide emergency number specifically for bicyclists. It's *CSP (*277), and will allow you to report the abusive S.O.B. directly to the police. You need the general description of the vehicle and the license plate, and they'll ticket the bastard. If there is personal assault involved (as in your case), they will hunt that fat piece of crap down and pin his wife-beater to the hood of his pickup while you press charges. If it comes to that, do not hesitate to stick it to the jerk-off as hard as possible! Check your area to see if you have something similar.
I, for one, have ZERO tolerance for these "all-American" armchair quarterbacks that think they own the freakin' road. What makes them think that, after 15 years of riding, that something coming out of their ignorant pie-hole will make a lick of difference? Do they really think what they say will make you stop?
As if I'll suddenly say, "Oh, golly sir, I had NO idea that I was such a nuisance! I thought I was just quietly enjoying the fresh air on my expensive bicycle, but now that YOU came along I think I'll sell it and stop riding altogether! Thank you so much for showing me the error of my ways!"
I'm waiting for the first belligerent moron to knock me off my bike. I PROMISE I will make an example out of them by shoving a high-priced lawyer so far up their butt that they'll be living in a cardboard box within the month! If I can blow $3,500 on a "toy" I can clean you out, Bubba, and I will DESTROY you.

I've had a guy on a Harley get too close on purpose. I tried to catch to the first light right after, but it turned green before I could get there.
At the second light, the sucker was sitting there, one lane over, not looking. I looked over, and mocked using the throttle of motorcycle and started shouting "vroom, vroom, vroom....finally You want to race...vroom, vroom.
My riding buddy didn't know what to do, but almost barfed from the sprint followed by trying not to laugh.

No, I've never been physically attacked, I've been yelled at and followed. I recommend carrying mace or pepper spray, and also have a cell phone with you so you can call 911 in situations like that.

No, I've never had a problem here. I'll stop to pet some dogs and they may jump up on my leg and I'll lose my balance but thats about it.
As for people, nope I've never had a problem with anyone.
