Faith is the ability to believe what you want to believe, whether that belief is rational or not.
OR, in simpler terms, it's the refuge of the intellectually destitute.

Faith is a christian's way of bypassing all the evidence against an existence of an all powerful being. Even though there's not one shred of real proof that any gods exist, some would rather believe the illogical idea that faith is more important than fact. Furthermore, how delusional do you have to be to think that the invisible man in the sky waved his magic wand and created the universe. Faith is simply a way to avoid the tough questions and keep living in a dream world.

It doesn't. God exists whether or not we have faith. It is faith that creates the channel of communication between God and man and releases God's power in our lives.

I didn't believe in Jesus until I met him and he changed me from the inside, so my faith is not totally unfounded, it's based on personal experience. After that I decided that if Jesus is real then I'd better do something about my life, and despite reservations about some doctrines, I also realised that if Jesus knows everything then what the Bible says must be true, and I don't know better than God. I've never been let down by Jesus.

the area of the brain in which faith originates has been identified....It is the same area in which the placebo effect is centred...... there have been instances where pretend operations have "Cured" Parkinsonian symptoms!! ....Faith therefor is an important part of a healthy and balanced holistic self and there for stands as the core to an individuals potential.......... This IS whether God IS or NOT.... BUT and this I believe is the point.........
Purity of heart is the determining factor.......
The TRUE intention of ones will as expressed through ones heart is the measure of the good or God that is within ones life and one's belief or FAITH in those actions, words, or even thoughts, providing that one has what I call "purity of intent". Purity of intent is the measure of one's worth to firstly one's self in order to bring balance to one's life, but how others see you, and most importantly treat you.
Go and be with Love and purity of intent in you heart and above all have belief and FAITH in all that you do.........
I am full of this Rubbish!!!
I've corrected it I've woken up now

Faith has nothing to do at all with whether God exists or not; it has only to do with whether YOU believe that God exists or not.
For God IS whether you believe or not, and that's a fact.
The only way you will ever know that to be true is by faith.

Hbr 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Hbr 11:6 But without faith [it is] impossible to please [him]: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and [that] he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Hope that helps.

Faith affiliates you with the one who God put in charge of everything.
When Adam sinned, he and his descendants were eternally lost to Satan, sin, and death, and unable to recover.
God sent his son as a man, knowing that Satan couldn't resist killing him.
Jesus permitted himself to be unjustly put death, knowing it would result in the legitimate destruction of all Satan's power, as no one had the authority to kill a sinless man, let alone the only begotten son of God.
So, through his saving death, Jesus obtained freedom for all mankind.
His father was pleased with his successful work, so he gave Jesus all power in heaven, on earth, and under the earth.
Jesus is now the sinless and triumphant head of all mankind.
Based on that alone, God offers forgiveness and grace to all those who are faithful to Jesus, his divine son.
