Cookies cause you can take them on the go and arent messy they last longer too but If you are trying to impress with a dessert I would go for a cake cause you dont get served cookies on a plate at resturants for dessert.... Unless chinese fortune cookies

Depending on the occasion: if you're serving it to kids then cookies coz they are not messy. if it's a friend's birthday then cakes coz it makes your friend feel special.
Depending whose going to eat them: if the recipient likes crunchy, munchy cookies or they like the softness of cakes.
Depending on your budget: cakes are expensive while cookies are not.
Depending on your appetite: cookies are good for snacks coz you can control the quantity you want to eat while cakes, depending how big the slices, can make you wish you didn't that much after that portion.
me, anything that has chunky chocolate bits is a winner hmmm... i think i'm going for cookies esp. chips ahoy, pepperridge farms and mrs. fields.....ooooooh yumyum.

Depends on the cake, and depends on the cookies. Are you sharing, or is it for you? Cookies are more individual, cake is for parties.
