Im involved with someone with brain damage from boxing and he has never been diagnosed though we, family and friends, all know he is ill, at only 38. How do we get him to get tested without him freaking out?

Get a new boyfriend. The brain damaged one isn't the same guy you fell in love with.

It is very important to make him know you all love him and worries about him. How does he feel about it?Try to know if he is worried about it or scared . Does he avoid this theme or he just does not realize he is ill? If he suspects he is ill please try not to suggest to be checked rightly after a dramatic episode he could think he had caused. Wait until he is calmed and relaxed but still conscious of what had happened so he can realize he needs some help, so he can continue living among all the people who love him and who he also loves.

First just inquire about how his life is in general and how he'd like to change it. Talk about things without telling him what to do. See if you can find a guy that he could relate to and maybe eventually if he hears that enough people care about him, he could discover for himself that he needs a proper diagnostic examination. Whatever you do, don't bombard him - go slow and be persistant yet helpful and warm.

coping with having brain damage for him and for the ppl who care about him is a challenge. show that you relate to him, and then that you care about him by offering a solution: you can express to him that having this is difficult for anyone, and 'what do you think about talking to someone about what you've gone through and what you still go through?'
