Or were they posted after the huge recent tsunami?

They've always been there, ever since the 1960s I think. But they may have added some more since the most recent one. I remember driving to California along the coast a few years back and thinking about how odd it was because I had never heard of a tsunami on the west coast.

My family has a place on the Oregon Coast. No, the signs only went up after the big tsunami (at least for Oregon, I can't speak for California or Washington). Also, they began to offer tsunami insurance for lower elevations on the Oregon Coast after that. I think up to 1000 feet above sea level.
Sorry that you got such rude answers from people...but you can give me 10 points if you want ;)

The signs were recently updated after the last big one. Also, all new alarm warning systems have been placed along the whole Oregon coast. The alarms are not perfect yet, but they are working on them!

I talked with my ancestors over a Ouija board, and they can't remember seeing them going back to 1530 AD, does that help?

Oh, come on.. "have they always been there?" NO - unless you consider "always" to be a few years..... Get a grip!!! (or a life).
