What is the best flea medicine for smaller dogs? I have a Chihuahua that weighs 5 pounds, and Rat Terrier that weighs 10 pounds and a 7 week old Min Pin.

Use a product that is recommended by a Vet. I think Advantage and Frontline are two well-known products, but you will want to look into it more before you decide.

Never ever never ever use Hartz - never - I had a cat once that had a very bad reaction to their flea collar Check online if you are interested in knowing more about toxicity and flea collars.

You have a tiny dog, he will need a very specific dose of proper medication. Also, (regardless of what you use), always watch for bad reactions with flea meds.

You must realize that getting rid of fleas is typically a multi-faceted approach. Have fun with your pups!

Frontline Plus from your vet.
I tried the store bought brands & one of my dogs had a bad reaction to it. The vet. said the actual medicine was different & had an adverse affect on his nervous system.
Both my dogs are almost 2 years old & weigh around 10 lbs.

Frontline spay on is great and it last for up to three weeks you use only one spray per pound of body weight. If you have a severe flea problem you may want a more aggresive treatment.

I wouldn't use ANY flea treatment on a young puppy. It might sound gross and time-consuming but you should remove them by hand. On adult dogs use Bio-Spot or something like that. You put it between their shoulder blades once per month.

If you don't mind the strong chemicals in Advantage, choose that. If you do, try some natural herbs that sends fleas away, but doesn't kill them. Check your local health food store.

I dont use chemicals on my dogs I use Ivory body wash or ivory dishsoap wich is a natrual flea killer it works very well for me. I also use AVON skin so soft for a flea repelant they hate it.
