When I went into the military, my recruiter was a "straight shooter." That is, he told me 100% truth. Unfortunately, not all are. So, read everything carefully and sign nothing until you understand everything. Remember, his final contract will say that any ORAL promises are NULL AND VOID....ie. they are henceforth dead. So...get it in writing.
The issue is simply to look the recruiter in the eye and say....I'm not signing anything unless I get (fill in the blanks).
If he wants him...he'll work with you.
Don't get me wrong. Be polite and proper...after all, recruiting is one of the hardest jobs in the military and the recruiter is simply trying to do his job. However, if you think of it as a four year business transaction, it may be a better "thought position" for you to enter into the conversation.
Good luck!

Depending on the job and how crucial they need ppl is when they offer a bonus. I think a 92A supply or 88m truck driver they are offering a bonus to them right now because the field is needed if a ton of ppl want to be a mp then why offer a bonus. Try a new rec because alot are liars but maybe go to another city near and speak to a rec ask what jobs are offering a bonus to sign? and if he tells you an mp then you need to drop your other rec because they will tell you the sky is green to make there cut.

Talk to a recruiter. Make sure that any deals you are offered get spelled out in writing. Verbal contracts and offers are null and void when you sign enlistment papers so it must be put down on paper to be valid. Make sure to ask about every possible option you have for enlistment and the entirety of what it entails. Do not sign anything on the spot but instead think about it for a couple of days to allow yourself to think up more questions and concerns. This is a very important decision that should not be made on a whim.

It just depends on the military's need on the day your son signs up. Be careful because you probably won't go to MEPS with him and that's where they sign everything after the physical and ASVAB test. I know of two guys that went intending on being heavy equipment operator but were persuaded by the 12K for five years bonus they were giving Calvary scouts. Just make sure you trust the recruiter. If there is a base he would rather be stationed at you can try and get that put in the contract also. It's really up to your son to make it clear he wants one and holds out for one.

I would tell him to talk to all service recruiters before joining. There is actually a clause in Army contracts in which they can pull you from your designation to fill positions that are under-manned. Make sure to see everything in writing and ask questions until you have a complete grasp on what happens. When he goes to MEPS he can insist for his Recruiter to be present before signing papers to make sure he has everything in his contract, they will always do this to make sure they can still sign him.
My husband is 15 years Navy enlisted and he loves the life, we have many MA friends and they all are having a blast getting to see the world! MA=MP in the Navy. If he wants enlistment bonuses, ask! Don't be afraid to talk to the recruiters, this is his future! Also make sure you understand upon which conditions he is eligible for bonuses. Tell your son thanks for joining (no matter what service he decides).

Bonuses are paid in installments. until eventually they replaced whilst i became into interior the 1st is a million/2 of the bonus ($2000 earlier taxes) which will desire to come out around 1400-1500 funds. something is in installments to be paid on the anniversary of his enlistment. the different determination is $4 hundred now (after taxes) and something whilst he finishes his required education.

if hes wanting to be an MP for exp as a police officer after the military just tell him he might wanna consider Master at Arms in the navy they are always hard up for people and only 25% MAA get stationed on a ship. the bonus is pretty good too. i was considering going maa before i got out but they dropped the ball on my reenlistement and i also totally agree with the others saying to get it in writing. if its not in black and white then the government does not have to do it. if they decide to change his orders for another mos or Rate for the navy guys out there then he can tell them he wants seperated from the military due to false pretenses. he can always back out of any military contract untill he signes it. just please be sure to tell him to read it in its entirety before he signs

$40,000 top bonus right now.
Just tell the recruiter that's all he is interested in. They will point you in the right direction.
Go Infantry boy. Infantry is it. Everything else is support.
