I've wondered the same. According to many Christians (based on their interpretation of the bible), a vicious child killer can repent, ask Christ into his life, and find salvation. But a good willed, morally grounded non-believer will be doomed to eternal hellfire.
I question any religion that professes such a disturbing lack of moral discretion.

Matthew 12:31
"And so I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven."
The question then is what is blasphemy? The dictionary definition is: "A contemptuous or profane act, utterance, or writing concerning God or a sacred entity."
This does not really explain much so let me add some of what I have seen in a ministry for those who have been abused. Many of these people have contacted me and were very angry and they stated God did not exist because He was no there when they were being abused. Many of these made statements that could be considered to be the unpardonable sin, or blasphemy but they do now have a relationship with GOD.
What then is the unpardonable sin if many can do what most would call blasphemy and still "get saved" I contend that is rejecting the payment that Jesus made for our sin throughout life. If one dies without trusting Christ that is the unpardonable sin.
I also assure anyone reading this that is worried that they have committed the unpardonable sin, if you are worried about it...you did NOT do it! I do believe that some could still be alive and have committed this sin because they said their last NO to GOD. God says HIS Spirit will not always call us. It is possible for the next time we reject the call to salvation, that it could be our FINAL ANSWER!

Jesus said that the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit was unforgiveable. There is a great difference of opinion on what that really means. However, the scripture also teaches that the onlly way a person can come to God to be reborn if for God to first draw that person to Himself. So, if God doesn't draw a person to Him, that person will never have a desire to repent of sin and come to God. If you have a concern about this sin in your life, or if you feel convicted for other sins against God, then you are not guilty of having blasphemed the Holy Spirit. What ever the full meaning of that phrase, I think it means more than just words we might speak.
I hope that helps a little.

Blasphemy is taking on yourself attributes that belong to God alone, using His name in a profane way, and irreverence in general towards God. This happens often in this forum.
All sin is forgivable, including blasphemy. As others have mentioned, blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is the unforgivable sin. And as some have mentioned, what the definition of that is in some dispute.
I think that the definition was given to us, however. In Mark's Gospel, he explains exactly what is meant by that.
"Truly I tell you, people will be forgiven their sins and whatever blasphemies they utter. But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit can never have forgiveness, but is guilty of eternal sin." For they had been saying, "He has an unclean spirit." (Mark 3:28-30)
As you can see, the religious leaders were crediting demons for what the Holy Spirit was doing.

Blasphemy is forgivable. Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is unforgivable. In fact, any sin committed against the Holy Spirit is unforgivable.
Why?? I wish I knew. May be it's because the Holy Spirit is the very essence of God.

Blasphemy is considered more a sin of those unbelievers at the time of Christ who attributed his actions to those of the Devil. A more definitive answer can be gotten from a minister or priest.

Satan was the first one who blasphemed; of course he did this pretty aware of what he was doing, so he'll never get back to heaven, as all those who do same way, wont have a place up there, those with knowledge. They will be judge therefore destroyed. Just like happened to Eli's son. Search that story in the Bible...go, go now...search it, undust your Bible!

the only sin it is unforgivable is to refuse Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. it is the artwork of the Holy Spirit to bare Christ. question: "what's the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit?" answer: The case of "blasphemy against the Spirit" in the hot testomony is pronounced in Mark 3:22-30 and in Matthew 12:22-32. The term blasphemy could be oftentimes defined as "defiant irreverence." we'd practice the term to such sins as cursing God, or willfully degrading issues bearing directly to God. it is likewise attributing some evil to God, or denying Him some stable that we would desire to consistently characteristic to Him. this occasion of blasphemy, in spite of the undeniable fact that, is a particular one, reported as "THE blasphemy against the Holy Spirit" in Matthew 12:31. In Matthew 12:31-32, the Pharisees, having witnessed irrefutable data that Jesus became working miracles in the skill of the Holy Spirit, claimed instead that the Lord became possessed via the demon "Beelzebub" (Matthew 12:24). Now word that for the time of Mark 3:30 Jesus is rather particular approximately what precisely they did to commit "the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit." This blasphemy has to do with somebody accusing Jesus Christ of being demon-possessed instead of Spirit-crammed. There are different counsel on a thank you to blaspheme the Holy Spirit, yet this became "THE" unpardonable blasphemy. as a effect, the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit can't be duplicated on the instant. Jesus Christ isn't on earth. yet seated on the main appropriate Hand of God. no you may witness Jesus Christ appearing a miracle and then characteristic that skill to devil instead of the Spirit. notwithstanding there is not any blasphemy of the Spirit on the instant, we would desire to consistently consistently bear in strategies there is an unpardonable state of existence--the state of persevered unbelief. there is not any pardon for a guy or woman who dies in unbelief. continual rejection of the Holy Spirit’s promptings to have faith in Jesus Christ is the unpardonable blasphemy. bear in strategies what's asserted in John 3:sixteen, "For God so enjoyed the international that he gave his purely begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him shouldn't perish yet have eternal existence." the only condition whilst somebody might haven't any forgiveness is that if that somebody isn't between the "whoever believes in Him."

Blasphemy the most idiotic concept of Abrahmic religions.
How can god or his prophets be too small to be insulted by mortal beings?
This concept gives an excuse to followers to fight & Kill in the name of religion
None of the Eastern Religion (except sikhism) have any such foolish concept
