I don't think that sugarfree gum or candy is bad for you, but they say too much of anything isn't good for you. Try rinsing with a mouthwash that taste really good and just don't drink anything for 30 minutes. I recently quit smoking and do this when I get tired of chewing gum!

I had a junk food problem as well and I've noticed chewing gum was a good way to curve the craving for a while. Trust me, your normal, just don't swallow it, lol.
I've noticed a tic-tac every once and while helped with my gum addiction. Especially the mint ones. Try alternating them, also, if you need something sweet, try crystal light. Mix it with water and drink up, it's sweet and it curves any food cravings. No Calories, Bonus!

Actually, sugar gum is bad for your teeth. Because of all the sugar in it. Butt, actually gum, is known to make you smarter. No lie. Not making this up because I chew gum. And it also strenghthens your gums. So, gum might be bad about the whole sugar part, but you can get sugar free gum. You won't gain weight by eating gum. :| whoever told you that is straight up lying. Gum is like water. It's hard to gain weight drinking just water.

Sir Alex Ferguson always looks as if he is chewing several packets at the same time. I reckon he needs to keep his jaws flexible so he can shout at the referees. I wonder if his `chewing gum loses its flavour on the bedpost over night` to quote an old song???

I believe chewing gum too much causes stress on your jaw joints. Maybe you could talk to a dietician about healthier alternatives.

Gum is bad for your teeth. What cured me was when my filling came out into the gum I was chewing. Right then and there I knew I needed to give up the gum.

I have found that to much gum chewing can really hurt your jaw. Maybe lead to TMJ or some stiffness and discomfort.

Not really.
Only problems you may face is excessive stomach gas and you may wear out your teeth surfaces faster.
But, you jaw muscles will be stronger, and your face will wrinkle less, and you may be less prone to gain weight as chewing gum does curb the apetite.

one thing I do know about gum (which I never chew because of a surgery I had on my jaw) is that it gives you gas. It has something to do with the amount of air you swallow when chewing it.

I do the same! I doubt if it's bad, at least, I hope it isn't. Oops, there goes another slice of gum in my mouth!
