Getting online is a good way to start. Can you make a week end trip there, to look around. Have you found a place where you would like to move to.? New York city is a big place.

What made you pick NYC.?

You can get online and look up a local new york paper to see about job listing. An employment agence out there might be able to help you. Also about places that you can rent. In NYC they have companys that will help you find an apartment to rent or buy. They might cost you but it will help if you can go out there for a vist and look.

You need to formulate a plan, How much money do you need to move.? What are you going to bring with you as in stuff. If you have a car do you want to bring it with you. Parking in NYC is VERY exspenive. You may want to sell it and use the subway.

When it comes to finding a job in NYC, It really depend on the job. Some are more high profile then other so they are harder to get and yes you might need to know someone. But there are a lot more that you just apply for and get on your own.

Good luck.

It would probably benefit you to check on a couple of
things before you rushed out and started knocking on doors in NYC.

First, what is the current Unemployment figure for NYC?
Let me get this right... You really wish to join all of those people?

Second, what are the housing costs in NYC... You know, apartment rent, utility bills, car insurance, parking costs.
Are they about the same as where you live now, or more?
Hmm-m, how much more per month? Is that really worth it?

It depends what kind of job. And you don't need to know someone if you pick the right job. But you'd better have really good references.
