I escaped from a hospital in Barcelona, Spain and stayed with a friend and the next day when I returned there the plain-clothes police were waiting for me to take me back to the hospital. I've no idea how they found me.

r u overstaying in Barcelona, without proper documents, visa. did u take proper travel documents from Spanish Govt. Police will be having ur name registered in every hospital,hotels, stations, airports all exit and entry points. they will be able to track u with help of computers.

Why are you in the hospital? Are you there of your own freewill or have you been committed to a mental health facility?
If you are there of your own will it is highly unlikely that the police would track you down.

I'm sure it's much the same any place you go. They have their way & the will vary even from 1 police to the next.
