Turndown service - what does it mean in hotel business. Pls let me know?

when the maid comes in at a set hour and 'opens' the bed uhhh turns down the blankets and usually puts a chocolate or a mint on your pillow.......it is actually very lovely.

The maid comes into the room and gets the room ready for bed time. They fluff the pillow and turn down the sheet and bedding. Some very swank places remove the day time bedspread and put on a more comfortable spread for sleeping. It depends on the place. They do put candy on the pillow or some where in the room. Some set out wine, fruit and cheese and check if there is something you need.

Housekeepers come into your room, turn down the bed (flip the filthy bedspread off the pillows), stick a chocolate on the pillow, tune the radio to an easy-listening station (can I pay them to not do that?), empty the trash, replace any used towels, and restock the amenities. Hotels like to add signature touches on top of the above, but those seem like the essentials to this layman.

It's the hospitality of turning down the guests' sheets on the bed so it is "prepared" for them to get into bed when they are ready.

Outside the hotel business, I suggest Shannen Doherty's reality show "Breaking Up With Shannen Doherty." Funny stuff and "turn-downs" are de riguer.

Turn down the bed sheets so when u r ready for bed the sheets are turned down just like ur mom was there...LOL

You ask them to do stuff for you and they say, "no, I'm afraid I can't do that, I have to turn you down." That's what I always thought.
