Belief is a personal choice, so I've decided not to believe in Christians. The idea of a Bible being accepted as the truth by a human being who has the same capabilities for rational understanding as I do, is just too unlikely to be possible.

Religion is extreamly important in any civilization if for no other reason than to give people hope about an afterlife. Think for a minute what death will be like if there is no afterlife. Can you picture yourself just not existing anymore? I think people have to assume that after they die they have some form of life and that they don't just disapear and no longer exist. For me I think of blackness, but even that is a form of existance. What would it be like to just not exist. If people didn't believe in some form of an afterlife civilizations would be much more inclined to fall into chaos because many people couldn't take the fact that their existance will just end. So although I don't agree with the beliefs of Christianity I do understand it's importance to people. At the same time my biggest problem with Christianity is the fact that Christians talk of tolarance and acceptance but will flatly tell you to your face that if you are not Christian you are going to hell. Does that sound like acceptance? They use their large numbers in the United States to intimidate candidates. How many times have you hear Christians denounce a candidate because he or she wasn't Christian? Or say they will only support someone who will use their Christian beliefs when legistlating, which is what the founders of this Country wanted to stop when they created the seperation of church and state.

So to answer you question, I don't believe in Christianity. I agree with you, any book that has been around for thousands of years and translated hundreds of times is bound to be different from it's original. Not to mention how can we assume those who wrote the bible were completely honest? I think that following the teaching of the Bible can be benificial as they mostly deal with moral issues and can be good guidelines. However to take the bible as fact and verbaly attacking those who don't agree with you isn't what religion should be about.

Beleive what you feel. That doesn't make it true. If everyone agrees that you are insane, does that make it true.

The fact that I know Jesus is real does not depend on any pastor, person, religion, belief. Understanding truth and not what you think is the truth, leads to a relationship with God through Jesus Christ.

You chose to believe something because it benefits you. That is your truth.
You know the truth, but chose not to believe it, simply because in doing so, you would have to change you heart. Being good with a good heart is what God is all about.

You are good, when you have to be, because you will gain something in return. This is not from God.

Would you repeat every scientific experiment and observation, just to be sure that all of what scientists claim is true? Perhaps there is some kind of faith that even scientists must practise: that the scientific community values and attempts to uphold truth. Note that faith is something that someone practises. Here is an example: when I've gotten surgery, I've had to practise faith that anaesthesia really works, even though I've never experimented with the drugs. One might argue, "but you fell asleep and then woke up, not having pain--isn't that proof that anaesthesia works", to which I could argue "what if I did have pain, and cannot remember it, and all these doctors are lying to me to keep their wallets fat"; instead, I have faith that anaesthesia works. I trust that my family, my doctors, my schools, most newspapers, and many books have all been telling me the truth about anaesthesia. Likewise, I practise faith that the Bible tells the truth, even though it sometimes (and not always clearly) uses symbology to convey the truth. I do not use the Bible as a textbook on biology or geology or cosmology.

I do believe that Christians exist. I don't believe IN them because they can't answer my prayers. God can. You are right in saying that belief is a personal choice. But you should believe in God, not in Christians. Christians do NOT believe that the bible is written by a human being like the rest of us. We believe that God choose certain men over 1000 yrs to write the bible. God sent His Holy Spirit onto these men to inspire them to write what God wanted us to know and that His Holy Spirit made sure that no errors were made. Even that no errors were made when it was translated to other languages. This is our BELIEF, A PERSONAL DECISION.

If one believes that God exists and that God is almight, all powerful, creator of all things seen and unseen, then why can't one believe that He made certain men write the bible without error?

Interesting. Your choice to not believe in Christians no more makes Christians not exist than a persons choice to not believe in God makes God not exist.

hey man first just understand this much 'christians are also human beings'. if u dont believe in christianity no problem. but u r asking question to other people that 'do you believe in christians'. uyou should have asked 'do u believe in christianity'. so ur question seems to be an utter foolish one. so just stop blabbering like this & think sensibly.

Being a Christian involves believing in Jesus; therefore am one of them and know lots of people who are also christian which makes them greater persons...Of course I believe in love, true friendship and marriage, still. There's still hope for you, get closer to God and find out about true brotherhood! (James 4:8)

I'm not Christian. And I never was, so I can't really say that I do believe in Christianity. But to each his own...
