Yes: DVDs are a more precise technology. However, the basics of the way DVDs and CDs are written & read makes DVD players 'backwards compatable'.

yes you can .If you are using Nero for buring do not forget to change from CD to DVD ( this option is in the centre top part of your Nero Window) while writing a DVD and vice versa for CDs.
