Luke 18:9  And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:
10  Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
11  The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
12  I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
13  And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
14  I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

The humble publican was justified, not the Pharisee.

Humility is one aspect of a just character.

Bottom line is that it is all about faith. I believe there is a god and I know some day I will die and will have to answer for all the activity that took place in my life. The real questions are what happens once your gone. No one has the real answers because we are all still here. If you feel you were honest, and are a good person, then your repent should probably be accepted. If you went to church to repent because you thought it would save you from going to hell, but do not feel bad about what you did. Well then, you will be in trouble when judgment day comes. My guess is that since you posted this, you are sincere about what you did and your repent will be accepted. Just don't do it again...

The sin that binds you and reminds you and brings you back down and humiliates you and diminishes your thinking, feelings, and stresses you out is completely lifted off of your shoulders.
The chains that hold you back or make you remember the horrible thing you did completely disappear. You can discuss and talk about it openly to anyone and it will not build emotional distress or guilt at all.

Here comes the hard part. God will forgive you only when you repent with an open and truthful heart. You might think that you are repenting, but you won't, at least not at first. God will allow circumstances to come into your life so that you can reflect and see that you really haven't repented.

I speak only from experience,.........nothing more nothing less...........

You know by faith. God says once you repent that you are forgiven and saved. The Holy Ghost is inside of you. All you have to do is keep the faith. If you search throughout the New Testament, you'll find many verses that will encourage you and allow you to understand.

It depends of what you understand as "being saved" and "belief".
Some think that "belief" in Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour is a a mere intellectual act . However, the greek word used in the Bible is "pisteos", and 53 times of the 67 times that "pisteos" is used in the NT it means "faithfullness".
So your whole life has to be fauthful to what Jesus asks from you to be saved. That is not a one time event:

•1 Cor. 15:1-2 - 1 Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand 2 By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.

dont worry my friend, all u have to do is go to a confession stand and repent, and the pastor will forgive you, thus god forgives u also. so why not if ur in the mood just go and kill masses of people, and then just ask for forgiveness and u will be saved no matter what!

Repentance is not the source of Salvation. Faith in Jesus Christ is the source of Salvation.

The scriptures do not say that if you stop sinning that you will be Saved. They say that if your name is written in the Lamb's Book of Life that you will be saved.

You may be assured of your salvation if you truly believe in Jesus and obey what He said, continuing to confess and repent as functions of your belief, but not as criteria to earn a Salvation that can not be earned.

I know Because the Spirit in me gets excited when Jesus works in my life, when my prayers get answered, when I put every dime I had in the offering at church by mistake, and I was upset, didn`t know how my husband was going to get back and forth to work for the week, and I found JUST enough on the very top of the dirty clothes I was about to wash, and I felt guilty for not trusting God to take care of our needs, and he proved once again he was there for ALL our needs. we don`t have to wonder if were saved, we can prove it, by the things God does for us every day. the BIBLE says try the spirits and see if they be of GOD.

The peace of God will rest in your spirit ~ and the Lord will give you the Holy Spirit to commune with your spirit. That communion is only enjoyed or possible to those that are at peace(are forgiven) with God.
