The bible does not support it.If you read Luke 17:34-36 you will find the saying one shall be taken the other left. In Luke 17:37 you will find Jesus' disciples asking him where they are being TAKEN. Jesus answer was ....Wheresoever the body is, thither will the eagles be gathered together. Matthew 24:28 recounts it this way, For wheresoever the CARCASS is, there will the eagles be gathered together. So the rapture is a carcass? The one taken is a DEAD CARCASS?
No rapture there. It shows that the one taken is the evil doer
Another event can be found in Revelations and Ezekiel. Rev. 19:17-18 & Eze.39:17-22
If you have any doubt as to what is meant by taken read Matthew 24:36-41( The flood came and took them all away.) Luke 17:27 leaves no doubt as the meaning of ,took them all away. ( The flood came and destroyed them all).
Hope this helps.

Hi I just read your question. And I have seen that you even answered your question. And you are 100% right the word rapture is not mentioned in the bible man has not shown this to you but God himself has shown you that. We will be here during the tribulation. I have studyed the book of Revelation in and out I have studyed on what they call the rapture and God himself has told me that rapture means a type of exciment brought on by something that isnt real, so I went looking up the word rapture from it's arriginal meaning and what God told me was exactally what the dictionaries gave. Oh yea there will be a time when we are called up to meet Jesus in the air, but that won't happen before the tribulation. There is no bible to support the teachings of the rapture. But what God has shown me on this topic of the rapture goes much deeper than what I have said here, and if you would like to know more feel free to email me and I'll give you the scriptures that supports that we will be here through the tribulation my email is damron_teresa@hotmail.com

The rapture doctrine came out from a speech of Jesus when He said that there were going to be two persons in the field, one would be taken up and the other one would be left behind.

So many people get a doctrine from what Jesus said there. I believe they're honest people. However, as chrstians, we should not get a doctrine from a few verses, but rather we should compare it with the whole Bible. Did Jesus really mean that there was gonig to be a literal rapture? I don't think so, because there are a lot of bible verses telling us that He's coming in the clouds from Heaven, and every eye will see Him (see 1 Thessalonians 4:16, 17, for example). Jesus' coming is going to be a great event, and we're not going to Heaven until He comes to take us there. So Jesus meant something else when He told that one would be taken up and the other one would be left. I've just heard once what He really meant there, but I can't remember right now.

Anyway, you may ask your question on www.bibleinfo.com, it's a great website; they may answer you in a couple of days and with an answer based a hundred percent in the Bible.

I just found this article about the rapture, and am sure is going to help you a lot. I think all your doubts about the rapture will be resolved after you read this: http://www.amazingfacts.org/items/Read_Media.asp?ID=665&x=13&y=45

The modern idea of a Rapture does not exist in scripture.

Really the only scripture that people use to make their point about the Rapture is 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17. But this only says 16] For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. [17] After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever."

The rest of the long and drawn out, detailed theology on a secret pre-tribulation rapture is no where to be found in scripture. It was made up by a man named Darby just short of about 200 years ago. This "Left Behind" stuff by LaHaye is only fiction and making him wealthy while millions of people are taking it to be Biblical prophecy.

There is absolutely nowhere in the Book of Revelation that mentions anything even remotely resembling this. In fact, it says in Revelation 9:3 And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power.
9:4 And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads

Did you see it? "Only those men which have not the seal of God in their forehead." There will be everyone, good and bad, saved and unsaved, going through the endtime together. The wheat and chaff will be harvested together at the same time and then at the end Jesus will separate them.

The "rapture" is a new doctrine coming from the erroneous "sola scriptura" concept (everybody can understand and interpret the Bible - that's why there are countless protestant denominations today). It came to light in around 1870 thanks to a presbiterian pastor named John Nelson Darby who did not undertand scripture and tied two verses:
• 1 Thess. 4:17 - We shall be caught up together in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air
• Mt. 24:40 - Two men will be in the field; one is taken and one is left.

However, read Luke 17:35-37 (which is a similar rendering of the same discourse of Jesus as Mt. 24:40): "Two women will be grinding grain together; one will be taken and the other left." 37"Where, Lord?" they (the apostles) asked. He replied, "Where there is a dead body, there the vultures will gather." -

Is this heaven !!?? NO; it´s hell. There are other verses that say that the condemned will go first, so if there is a rapture I prefer to stay:

•Mt. 13:24-30 - “First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles for burning” - the wicked will go first
•Mt. 24:21-22, Mk. 13:19-20 - “at that time there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will be. And if those days had not been shortened, no one would be saved; but for the sake of the elect they will be shortened”- How can there be “the elect” during this time if they went in the rapture?
•Mt. 24:31; Mk. 13:26-27 - At that time men will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. 27And he will send his angels and gather his elect from the four winds - How can there be “the elect” during this time if they went in the rapture?
•Mt. 24:47 - One man is rewarded (salvation), Mt. 24:51 - The other is punished (hell) - that leaves no one on earth
•Mt. 25:31-45 - When He comes He will come to judge the living and the dead
•Mt. 25:46 - Some go to eternal punishment, some to eternal life (no one left on earth)
•Lk. 17:26 - And as it came to pass in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man - In the days of Noe the ones left were the righteous
•Jn. 17:15 - “I do not ask that you take them out of the world but that you keep them from the evil one”

Besides, Jesus is coming only once more, not twice as required by the"rapture"
•Act. 1:11 - When He returns He will be coming all the way down to the earth (not hover above it)
•1 Thess. 4:15 - Jesus is coming back once more (not twice for a rapture and judgment)
•Heb. 9:28 - so also Christ, offered once to take away the sins of many, 20 will appear a second time, not to take away sin but to bring salvation to those who eagerly await him.

As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. Two men will be in the field; one will be taken [paralambano] and the other left [aphiemi]. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken [paralambano] and the other left [aphiemi]. "Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come (Matthew 24:37-42).

It happens at the beginning of revelation. After the 7 warnings to the churches to change their ways. John is taken away. That is the rapture. Read on with that in mind and it will make sense to you. Imagine a mass vanishing right now today and how all the rest of the book would follow in world events

There's more in the bible to back up what you say than there is concerning the "rapture". Jesus spake in parables to keep the pharisees and saducees from turning his words against him. The disciples would not translate the parables when they wrote the books of the bible. However, there are numerous references to withstanding the tribulation. It just seems to me like there would be more about the rapture than one or two little paragraphs. We don't have all of the bible anyways. If you read the four gospels thogh you will find the part that the preachers use in reference to the rapture.

Rapture is just a word used to mean that point in Revelations when living believers are lifted up to Heaven and the bodies of those who have died are lifted to meet their spirits in Heaven. You won't actually find the word "rapture" in the Bible, as such; but that is what is meant when Christians use the label.

The Bible says that it will be cut short because of the chosen ones. If there are no chosen ones still here, that scripture would not even make sense. The rapture is a man-made doctrine.

Of course for serious Bible students and scholars, the rapture can be found in the Bible, meaning those who are saved will be caught up in the sky to be with Jesus (those who are saved and are dead will be resurrected.) I will provide the Bible text if you asked me via email.

BUT THE BIG ERROR, being taught is that the rapture will be a secret one. This LEFT BEHIND scenario is one of Satan's scam in these last days. When Jesus comes for the second time (see HIs promise in John 14-1-3) it will be visible, he is accompanied by ALL the angels in heaven with a trumpet sounds. The bible says, that like a lighting, "every eye" shall see him. Those who are not saved will be DESTROYED by the brightness of HIS coming. No left behind on earth. They will be dead. Read your BIbles well, when Jesus comes, He said His reward is with Him (whether you are saved or lost). So those who believe in the secret rapture (believing they have a chance to repent when the saved are raptured) are given a false sense of security by this false doctrine. Read the Last chapter of Malachi....the lost will be ashes under our feet.

His coming is secret..meaning we dont now "when" just like a thief...a thief does not announce his coming....but if your house is robbed you will know. Just like in the days of Noah..the Bible says...but when the flood came... it was NOT a secret. Every living being at that time was aware that the flood has come but it was too late to repent. The door of the ark is closed.

The Bible says that in the last days, people will love to hear doctrines that are pleasing to their ears. Believing that the saved will be raptured BEFORE the tribulation is a very appealing one to Christians without any Biblical support. Was Noah raptured before the flood or was saved through the flood? Were the three faithful Hebrews, saved from the fire or through the fire? Was Daniel saved from the Lion's den of did he experienced being saved through that experience?

All Christians will be tested whether their faith is genuine or not. Apostle Paul wrote the" we should through tribulations enter the kingdom og God". We who claimed to be faithful followers of Christ will go through the same test but just like he did with Noah, Daniel we will in the end be saved. When those seven last plagues fall, the Christians who were already "sealed" by the Holy Spirit will be protected from the plagues. Read the promise in Psalms 91: ten thousands shall fall on your right side BUT it will not fall on thee. Also, similarly when the seven plagues fell on the
Egyptians, were the Jews raptured? Of course not,,the plagues fell but it did not affect them.
