earlier today i saw an answer that stated " if millions of people believe in something then it must be true". now under this logic every single belief regarding religion must be true. also millions of children believe in santa clause so he must be real.

so again i ask you. does this make any sense?

When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I thought like a child, I believed like a child, and "sometimes", I still act like a child.
If millions of people believe that there can be Peace in this world, why can't Santa Claus be as real as well?
Under every logical reason for religion and who He is, isn't there only One?
After all, I don't see millions of People worshipping two Gods. That would be like having two Santa's. Which would make no sense.

To me it doesn't. You know the old saying if someone jumps off a bridge do you jump to. Well it 1 million people jumped of a bridge do you jump too. No you have to look and see why they jumped and is it the best option. Is it whats right? For example if Bigfoot was standing me hind me on the bridge I would probably jump it there was water under the bridge. Other wise I would put up a hell of a fight before Bigfoot ate me.

Take this with religion. Just because millions of people follow it does not make it true. There is only one right religion and it is up to you to look at what they offer as prof and go with that. If you choose to go with one or none that is your choice. But again just because a mass of people believe does not make it true.

Considering that there are billions of people on earth, a few million believing in something doesn't make it true. But if majority believe and these people were sane and rational then I would look into it. There are things that scientists say are true but I don't believe because I haven't found facts to hold that truth. Facts and truths are completely different. I admit that I told my son the lie about Santa and the Easter bunny for 5 years. I actually felt guilty and wanted to tell him the truth but my family 'voted' against it. Once I told him the truth I was relieved and he was of course angry at me for lying. I tell my son about how my faith brings me to God and he has many questions. I will not condemn him for not believing the way I do but we have many talks about it all and as he grows up he will have to come to that decision on his own. I can only pray that he believes in the Truth.

No, it doesn't make any sense. I think I saw the same answer by whynotaskdon.

Yes, it really is possible for EVERYONE to be wrong, or even for simply the vast majority. It doesn't matter how popular an idea is, if no-one has a solid basis for believing it.

of course that makes no sense. But I will affirm is that if millions of people believe in a religion, then it must be working for them, in some way. It must be fulfilling some psychological or spiritual need if that many people swear by it.

I say reality is what we make it. So, really, it only takes one believer to make something true.

At least that works in my fantasyland.

Millions of people also believe Christianity is sheer bollocks. Who's right?

No sense at all. Millions followed Hitler. That logic would make him right. Enough said.

My friend, I think we should be able to differentiate between FAITH , BELIEF and TRUTH. As some wise man said" If I , as a father, say that "boy" is my son then it is faith. But if my wife says that boy is my son then it is the truth . Belief is a stage much before faith , a transitional stage that gets converted to faith after a series of experiences.
Santa Claus.......don`t drag him , please .
