actually, blood doesnt taste that bad.
idk, i like it. i mean i dont go around drinking a glass of blood a day, but i have tasted quite alot of blood and it isnt bad...and ur right, according to the movie 'the man', the human jaw can deliver close to 600 pounds of force per square inch. so i think by all means it should be allowes.

well while I don't think that Martial Arts SHOULD incorporate biting, because like yuji said, the possibility of bloodborne illnesses is too great a chance.
but it is a useful tactic in surprising an opponent to give you an edge if it becomes necessary, andyou really don't have to go as far as breaking the the skin or drawing blood to get your opponents attention.
but it should only be used as a last resort instead of a technique in any discipline.
so sorry, I don't think I can agree with you. but good try

It may be useful in a real life-or-death struggle. It's dangerous for both people as a general practice. When you bite, you're basically blind and in an awkward position. You could seriously hurt your neck or other parts trying it. The only reason it is an effective attack is because it takes people by surprise. It will also not be allowed by any kind of organized competition because of the risks of bloodborne illnesses.

Well I am sure it makes a good defence tool. I mean most 3 year olds use it when their friends take their toys.
Other than that... Well when you get HIV/Aids or another disease from it let me know. Oh and if you brake the skin you just got charged with bodily harm or attempted murder if it turns out you do have an infection/disease. Which you probably caught from the last guy you bit.

i would also think clothing could effect the tactics of biting very much. for example, if a person had a tee shirt on you could bite the arm, neck, face, ear. however if it was winter and that person had a coat, scarf, and a face mask, that would kill your chance of having any effective bite.
for it to be trained in a martial art it has too many variables and way~ too risky to use. So in my vote no don't train for it, however if you end up fighting for your life everything is fair game.

Ok, if you liked to compete in martial arts right... would you want to fight and have someone bite you? How about poke you in the eyes and blind you for your life. Would you compete in a competition against Igor the Eyepoker? I don't think anyone wants to have a fight career last one fight cause they are blind or have a chunk out of their neck, arm, leg.
However if I was in a position where I would DIE or be VIOLATED, I would BITE SPIT BITE SPIT till I hit bone. I'd either get free or die knowing I did EVERYTHING I could.

Hey, that's a GREAT way to get HIV/AIDS, Hepititus, and a host of other wonderful diseases!
However it is very prestigeous, biting worked for Mike Tyson.
The other thing is that while you are biting, your head is latched to the other person making you immobile and very vulnerable to attack. I'd be glad to trade a bit of flesh to crush my opponent's throat. No, I would have to be very desperate indeed to bite.

absoulotely martial arts utilize everyting you can to defend yourself from atack from a oponent or oponents it probably wouldnt be my first line of defence but say for instance your being choked out by somebody and the only thing you can do to get him off is to bite him then bite him its a no brainer really self defence on the other hand however could say that by not biting an oponent you are defending yourself from blood borne illness

If you are in battle and that person has you immobilized and your life is at risk then you have waited to long to bite that person. And any martial artist that is worth his or her salt should have know that. But aids and if that person smells real bad have made it difficult for me to bite a stranger lol.So it pays to be very proficient in your style of martial arts......

some do actually...but here's the thing...in order to bite someone...that means your head will have to be very close to them...defensively that means your opponent could headbutt u or can otherwise attack your head...not a very good thing for u in a fight...also...why teach how to do it?...i'd imagine there's really only one way to properly bite someone...
