In Islam,the name Israel actually came from a story where Jacob fought or wrestle with Archangel Izrail(the angel of death) and later Jacob won the fight.God ordered him to make a name of his tribe out of the name of the archangel which is now known as the people of Israel which symbolizes strength and bravery of the people since they used the name of the angel of death.Are there any of you among Jews and Christians know this story?share your thoughts with us....

first i will say i did not knw that. however in the torah(or in jewish bible) it says that Israel is the name taht god gave to Jacob after he defeated the angle. The word means in Hebrew "to struggle". now everyone is entilted to believe wat they want but this is how the story was originally in history even though other 2 centrel montheistic religions did change many parts in the bible.

The name Israel means,one who is a Prince with God,the Bible says it was the Angel of the Lord.Jacob said,"I have seen God face to face and my life is spared" So he called the name of the place Peniel(have seen God).It was the Lord Jesus before He took on human flesh ,not the Angel of Death.The same Angel Joshua saw,and Samson's parents and Gideon,and Abraham under the terebinth trees,it was the pre-incarnate Christ.

In the Bible in the Book of Genisis tells about it. Jacob wreslted with God, and as they were wrestling, God Changed his name to Israel saying because he wrestled with God.

That is a false doctrine.
THe name came from when Jesus Christ (Word of God), made a promise to Abraham and Jacob.
Secondly god wrestled, not an angel.
