It is not blasphemy to try to be like Jesus through God's grace. It is blasphemous to try to be like Jesus on your own power.
It is best to compare yourself to Jesus regarding how, where, when, and why you fail. This is not blasphemous. It is dangerous, at least, to compare yourself as having succeeded in being like him.
To accept Jesus means that one has been humbled and has learned what human beings are and what we are not. What all we faithful Christians know for real is that we're not Christ, and will not presently be, which is why we need him. If we go around thinking that we are becoming so much like him, we are losing our humility. If we see evidence in our lives that God is transforming us into the image of his Son, and if we humbly express gratitude to God for his outrageous gift based on no merit of our own, then that might be okay. It is best to confirm our suspicions with other Christians, and to always know that God is the one doing this work--not us. All we have contributed is our willingness and humility. Nothing we do makes us deserving of the disproportionate gift.
Pride is a killer. Be ever ye vigilant.

No person will ever achieve all the good behaviour of Christ. It would be blasphemous if a person other than Christ claimed to be God, so to "try to be as much like Jesus as possible" to the point of claiming to be Him would be wrong. But, in a way, the Lord's Prayer (aka the Our Father) is a kind of "dressing up" as Christ for the worshipping Christian. Just as a parent guides a child's hands in writing first letters of the alphabet, so, too, praying as Christ taught us is essentially Christ praying with us, helping to make us more and more like Him.

I know this is going to beat records for thumbs-down, but this isn't a religious forum. It's a site about religions. You simply cannot ask a question and ban from answering all of those who are going to give you an answer you don't want to hear. So, in spite of your request, and at the risk of being reported (once more) by some religious bigot, I'll say that I am not in the least trying to be as much like Jesus as possible. I am trying to be like myself.
I, you, and everybody else, including those who are going to give me their thumbs-down, are EQUALLY important as people. And the sooner we all get that, the sooner our world is going to progress. Not taking others as models. Not taking allegedly perfect beings as models. ESPECIALLY not taking them. It's taking ourselves as models that we have a chance.
Sorry. I HAD to say this.

Listen here, Jesus was sent here not only to save us from our wicked ways but to show us that a person or a human being can keep Gods commandments. So it would make since to be more like Jesus because thats the only way we can get to heaven is thru Jesus.

No, Jesus is the best one to try to immitate. He was the only perfect man other than Adam and Adam eventually chose Eve over God. Jesus remained faithful till death and received the crown of life. Isn't that what we also want??

Of course not. In fact, Jesus himself wanted us to imitate him - meaning acquire some of his personal traits (loving, humble, willing to serve others, forgiving, etc)
Also, Apostle Paul, urged us to look to Jesus always to the point that we are transformed in His image from "glory into glory" I think you can find it in 2 Cor 3:18.
Blasphemy on the other hand is claiming the position or prerogatives of God. It is blasphemy to claim that you are God yourself or try to claim authority that belongs only to God (like forgiving sins- only God can forgive sins) The Jewish leaders accused Jesus of blasphemy when he forgave the sins of the woman caught in prostitution. They claimed that only God can forgive sins (and they were right). But they made a mistake of accusing Jesus of blasphemy because He was indeed God incarnate and therefore has the right to forgive sins. God himself became flesh (human) to save human kind.

If you claim to be Christian then it is Blasphemy NOT to emulate Christ. The New testament is filled with teaching after teaching after teaching that this is what a Christian IS supposed to do.

Not at all. The bible tells us that it is God's intention that He make us into the image of His son. Jesus also said to us "be perfect, as your Father in heaven is perfect". We are absolutely to model our behavior after our Lord's.
