Are these 2 white babies femaled ?
What can I do to add colour to the next generation of these white babies.
Will the yellow & grey pair always have such white babies ?
What is the mating trick breeders use to have white birds with a hint of blue, yellow, green etc on them.
Till now no matter which colours I have paired the babies inherit the colour of only one parent. Why do the colours of both the parents not show on the budgie babies ?

hi all you need to know
your male is a lutino and your female is grey,so you have a male from the green series(which is the dominant colour) and a female from the blue series.
your female cannot carry the hidden gene which means your whites(which must be albinos)check the eyes which must be red are bred out of the cock.
why albinos out of a lutino i hear you ask? because the gene is INO and can throw lutinos and albinos.
you need to purchase albinos to pair back to your chicks which may be males or females.
i breed exhibition budgerigars and any luts or albinos showing a suffusion of blue or yellow are faults and no good for the showbench.
we would only pair lutino x lutino or albino x albino,if you paired albino x blue or lutino x green you would breed birds with the colour you so desire.
your two adults will only breed the same colours as now.
all the very best in this wonderful hobby, need to know more e-mail me.

I breed Budgies for different color combinations. I have not used an albino though. The female generally determines the amount of white. I breed mostly white/w1/4 Violet blue female with a male solid turquoise for example: and get clutches of 5 babies w/no solid turquoise but different shade of violet blue and blues and the birds have 1/2-3/4 white on them. Males pick the female to mate with.

white is a recessive colour in budgies, so both parents must carry this gene and you will have a 1/4 chance of getting pure white birds.
Try crossing these birds with the colours you are wanting and you should get a couple of pastel like birds.

try looking up a web page on budgie genetics to get the full list of colours and crosses.

pure white animals with red eyes are albinos! they have no melanin in their skin, or feathers (or, not in this case, fur) or eyes, the red is the colour of the blood showing through.
It is a recessive gene that was obviously present in both the parents.
