i have 2 microwaves...they are plugged into the wall but not running, meaning their clocks are on, but the microwave isnt heating anything and shouldn't be drawing power. once, when i had one of them on and an electric grill on my fuse blew, so i switched the microwaves to a new circuit other than my kitchen. now all i did was flick a light switch and my fuse blew. and this was after the light was on the whole day....i had turned the light off for an hour, and then when i turned it back on the fuse blew. the only appliances on that circuit was a light, a clock and the 2 microwaves that wernt running. whats happening and why are my fuses blowing. oh, and my fuse box in my room isnt actually whats blowing. the fuse in the basement of the apartment building is blowing.

Sir:
It sounds to me like you have the makings of an
electrical fire about to occur. Fuse problems such
as this are usually the result of poor electrical
connections and bad insulation somewhere in
the installed wiring arrangement.

You can check this situation out yourself and find
out if this is the possible case. Remove one or more
plastic faceplates over your electrical outlets. Using a
bright, focused light examine the wires where they
connect to the outlet screw terminals. If they are old,
corroded, and possibly show black color on the copper
part of the wires, then you have a bad situation such
as I mentioned. If everything is nice and shiney clean,
you don't.

A qualified electrician will need to become involved for
servicing of your problem. He will need to start back
at the fuse that is blowing and work outward from
there to the various outlets which are connected thereto.
I suspect that the trouble will ber found in a splice box
in the attic or floor somewhere. Most likely it is arcing
inside.

The worst situation you can have is one in which some
person has mounted a picture or fastened something to the wall using nails or screws and somehow nailed right into a supply cable from the fuse box. That situation is a real booger to locate but is the worst kind of a near future fire hazard. Work carefully and safely to investigate this further and attempt to determine which outlets are suspect and cause this fuse blowing situation.

You might also have a deffective microwave oven.

There r somany things that can blow a fuse, but one of the main thins people over-look is wether or not the fuse is getting a good connection. If ur fuse has a poor connection it will constantly over-heat and blow..

-check and make sure ur fuse fits tight-

DO NOT GET A BIGGER FUSE!! If u use a fuse that can handle 2 many amps.. a wire could easily burn intwo and somthn could catch fire.. thats wht a fuse is used to prevent!

do you live in an old building?
the wiring to the main circuit breaker (in the basement) may have a loose wire or a short(exposed) wire.
have you told your landlord?
they need to have an electrician check the circuit.
