Well are you petite? Maybe the docs arent worried because they think it's just hereditary. My 15 month old daughter is 22lbs, and in the 25th percentile for weight. Ask your doc what percentile she is in. If she is below the 5th then that is a problem that needs to be looked into. The docs usually go off the percentile.
* Since I work with infants I had a growth chart on me. I looked up your daughters weight for age on my growth chart. Your daughter falls below the 5th percentile, so I would talk to your doctor about this. If he/she is shrugging you off, go to another doctor.
** Well I am sure if multiple doctors have seen her and aren't worried, then she's fine, but I've known doctors to overlook things before. The only other thing you could do is call your local Early Start program and have them come out and assess her. Tell them your concerns abour her weight. Part of their assessment should be charting her weight and they should have resources available to help. These are free programs. I dont know what state you are in, I'm in California and could tell you what to do here, but in another state I would call your local school district and ask for a Early Start assessment.

It is normal for a baby to triple their birth weight by the time of their first birthday, wearing a size 6months clothes does sound small, but her weight doesn't. If you buy different brands of clothes for her, you may find that she wears different sizes, dresses and summer clothes are also ones that a smaller size will fit a "larger child". Babies have a lot of colds their first year, it may not be that the doctor doesn't believe you he just knows it is normal, as long as all her development is progressing normally try not to worry, in a while you will wonder when she got so big.

To me that doesnt seem "too small". If shes still on her same growth curve, Drs wont worry about it. My daughter is also small and I wondered about that but her Doctor always said she was fine.
BTW, My daughter will be 3 in a month and wears 12 and 18 month shorts.

She does seem very small, not so much by her weight, but by her clothing size. Have you tried going to a different doctor? I would tell her doctor that you're concerned and would like a second opinion, so you'd appreciate it if he/she could give you a referral to a different doctor or a specialist.

Your daughter is small. My son weight almost 30 lbs at that age. Go to a new doctor, and keep changing doctors until you get one that will do some real testing.

my daughter is 2 and weighs 25lbs. she still fits in some 3-6 month clothing. every child grows different and if they are very active then perhaps they weigh less than another child that age. i'm sure that by the time your child is 3 or 4 you won't notice much of a difference anymore. my best advice is to never compare your child to someone elses because like i said every child is different and develops at their own pace.
