Yes, I'm pretty sure it would, but then take into account the fact that there no draft today. I guess this rule would always apply, unless America was at war and needed every person possible, but then again, how would the US know if you were openly gay?

The way things stand right now, yes they probably would be exempt. The don't ask don't tell rule still applies. They woud have to keep it quiet.
But how would the Gov't know?
Hey this guy is gay, don't let'em in...They prolly wouldn't know until they were drafted and then have to tell, but would the Gov't believe that the person is gay or just trying to get out of the draft?
I know, I know, I answered with questions.

Again, stupid answers...The selective service system interviews and classifies all persons entering...generally they use the same standards MEPS would use. The dont ask dont tell policy might still be in place if draft is reinstated. I do not think females will ever be drafted, though the policy on gays might change. However, its their lifestyle that determines their ability rather than their general sexual orientation, and it always has

I'm not sure but I think the don't ask don't tell rule has been cancelled by this administration and they are back to kicking gay people out of the service. And yes just say you are gay and they will not take you.

I think this may be the most thought out, interesting question I have read since I joined this site. You should get 10 points just for asking it.

And yes, theoretically they should be exempt.

We would have to "sign up" for the Selective Service System. We could even be "drafted." But as soon as we are "open" then we'll get kicked out.

it is an exceptionally polarizing and thrilling essay to write down! i might in all likelihood commence on the thought "ethics", as we as a rustic define them, are very open to non-public interpretations, fantastically on debatable subjects like LGBT interior the army. Then, you will desire to state that the prepare of military popularity of brazenly gay troops won't exist until eventually our entire society is accepting. additionally, do not overlook to point that, statistically, the army has a extra effective share of conservatives and republicans than liberals and democrats, because of the fact the former communities are extra against homosexuality than the latter. desire it helps!!

I think if there was a draft (which there won't be), that policy will be long gone.

They always have. One way to get out is to profess homosexuality.
