Do single moms understand its not a turn off to have kids if you treat the man your dating as your signigant other first .
As counterintuitive as this sounds if you play up the relationship angle first and if its a long term relationship he will gel into a parenting role

Of course the saftey and well being of the children come first .
I think what turns many men off is that there being screened for father type roles first and then the relationship . If he is a good man to you and you get to know him , his parenting instincts will come out if the relationship proceeds that far down the road . In the mean time have fun with it .

It's a forward thinking and positive concept of course. Especially if he/she wants to get to know the man/woman well enough. Respect for each other and their ideas of raising his/her step children and his future role in their life should actually be worked out prior to marriage.

This may be the problem. The man is wanting the woman to put him before her children..and some women can't do this if they are a single parent. He reacts and then she sees his as 'turning her off'.
