...Curious as I never saw a fitrep done on him, not to mention he doesn't look as if he could pass a PRT to save his life.

How the hell did this guy get through the selection board anyway? Did he mustang over to the O side of the house, or did he get one of those dubious "Field Commissions"?

Just wondering...

VR,
Low ranking Enlisted guy currently on Cadillac manning duty.

As a young man he went to sea as a cabin boy. Worked his way up to Bosun studied navigation and ship handling then as Sailing Master studied the King's reg. Finally prepared he crawled through the hawser and he sat for his Master Mariners (Any Waters) before the Admiralty and passed. Posted as a Lieutenant he served under various Captains until appointed to command his own ship. Still a lieutenant he was called Captain as is custom. Promoted to post rank he was given command of a ship of the line. Upon his retirement he was promoted to Admiral but being a honest man named himself Captain when hired to command his present ship.

He was promoted for his heroic action during the first Barbary war. He was a cook on the USS Intrepid and became famous for continuing to serve breakfast even when under enemy fire.

If he's a Navy captain then perhaps he obtained the rank by having relations with his superiors.
