Speed (methamphetamine) is a dangerous and unpredictable drug, sometimes lethal, representing the fastest growing drug abuse threat in America today.
Speed (methamphetamine)is a potent and addictive central nervous system stimulant, closely related chemically to amphetamine, but with greater central nervous system effects.Typically, it is a white, odorless, bitter-tasting powder that easily dissolves in water, which is snorted, injected, or taken orally. Another common form of the drug is Crystal Speed (methamphetamine)(clear, large chunky crystals resembling ice), which is smoked in a manner similar to crack cocaine. The street names for Methamphetamine include Meth, Speed, Chalk, Crystal Meth, Ice and Glass.
Effects of Use
Speed (methamphetamine)releases high levels of the neurotransmitter dopamine, which stimulates brain cells, enhancing mood and body movement. Immediately after smoking or intravenous injection, the Speed (methamphetamine)user experiences an intense sensation, called a “rush” or “flash”, which lasts only a few minutes and is described as extremely pleasurable. Oral or intranasal use produces euphoria - a high, but not a rush. Users may become addicted quickly, and use it with increasing frequency and in increasing doses.
Speed (methamphetamine)use also increases the heart rate, blood pressure, body temperature, breathing rate and dilates the pupils. Other effects include temporary hyperactivity, insomnia, anorexia and tremors. High doses or chronic use have been associated with increased nervousness, irritability, paranoia, confusion, anxiety and aggressiveness. Withdrawal from high doses produces severe depression.
Health Hazards
Speed (methamphetamine)can cause irreversible damage to blood vessels in the brain, producing strokes. Death can result from hyperthermia, convulsions and cardiovascular collapse.
Chronic, high-dose Speed (methamphetamine)abusers are susceptible to violent and erratic behavior, and a psychosis similar to schizophrenia. The neurotoxic effect of Speed (methamphetamine)causes damage to brain cells that contain dopamine and serotonin. Over time, reduced levels of dopamine can result in symptoms like those of Parkinson's disease, a severe movement disorder.
The injecting drug user is at risk for transmitting or acquiring HIV infection/AIDS if needles or other injection equipment are shared.

Well for starters it will make you look like a skanky whore in less than a year. You're teeth will rot and your face will get all f*cked up looking and nobody will want to screw you except for other tweekers. Also you will waste insane amounts of time doing retarded things like circling the same block over and over again or spraypainting things that do not need spraypainting. My best friend's mom was a tweeker and she is the reason I have never done speed. She was lots of fun on day 1 but by day 3 I could have strangled her and all the annoying people that hung out with her. She died at the age of 43, by the way.
If you're going to do drugs, stick to the hallucinogen group (pot, mushrooms, etc.) these drugs are not physically addictive and provide for hours of safe entertainment that will not ruin your whole life if used properly.

You probably know all the medical answers like the damage to your heart, your brain and on and on....but forget your tomorrows when you screw up your body today; lose your future due to the stupid decisions you make when you use the garbage; know some drug lord is laughing outloud at your demise as he lines his pockets with your blood money and don't think he gives a darn about you, you are nothing except a means to pay for his toys. Oh, then remember if you ever want a real family of your own that your reputation follows you and when you least expect it, it can raise its ugly face all over your dreams when you wish you had made different decisions....other than that, if you mess with it when you have a family, you are an absolute toxic waste to your children.

Well, if you are familiar with the buzz you get from a cup of coffee, multipy that by one trillion. You will be jittery, skittish, your heart will pound, you can't sit still, and you won't be able to sleep or sit still for at least 18 hours depending on the size of the hit. If you spike there's a good chance you'll OD if you don't know your tolerance. You will also feel great for a while but the crash is wicked - not worth the high. Anyone who sees your eyes or your shakes will know you're speedy, or at least that you're on something. By the end you will be wishing you'd never touched the crap and - as one who's been there - I hope you choose not to.
Don't usually do this but if U want to get more info on it email me at lacticrat@yahoo.com - my name is Samantha and I know all about it - unfortunately. :D
Don't do it, hon. BTW love yr name

Whoa! From what answers I read that were vehemently on the definite negative side of your question, it isn't the methamphetamine per se that does all that heavy damage to their minds, bodies, and relationships but the USER who exerts no self-control and uses it as if it were physically addicting like heroin. (Heroin is truly addicting because it actually changes your body's chemistry and then you require it just to maintain an existence.)
You already got enough information that speed is a very potent stimulant, so I won't repeat common knowledge. But there are people everywhere, every day, in every town and city of all ages who use it and don't lose their minds, job, children, home or look like like a skanky whore. They aren't spending every last dime on it or stealing from family and friends to buy it and use it moderately and do not die. A lot of people get arrested for it, very true. But look at the effect of alcoholism on a person's mind and body, their family and the devastating effect of drunk drivers. And alcoholic beverages are now legally sold to legal age persons at millions of gas stations with a mini mart all over this country. That's a seriously screwed up combination there, yet I don't hear anyone lobbying the legislature about it.
ANY drug, whether it's a pharmaceutical drug or an illegal substance has it's downside. But to blame methamphetamine itself for one's complete life falling into total ruin is to fail to realize that one has the choice of whether or not to use it, and how much one allows to give themselves up to a chemical. It's up to the user.

In the long run it's suicide. Massive decrease in physical functionality. If you are looking to escape reality there is no road you can take that is better than the real world. It's the only one that's the real thing.
