Over the years, PETA has engaged in various high-publicity protests, such as throwing fake blood on people who push fur fashion, a series of anti-fur advertisements featuring nude models, pamplets such as "Your Daddy Kills Animals" and so on. While these campaigns were certainly attention-getting, they have also produced a large amount of backlash and ridicule. How effective are they in influencing policy and changing public opinion?

Want a true organization in favor of animal rights? Support the ASPCA instead. They do not sabotage pet stores, but ensure they comply with the law. They do not blow up buildings and kill people when they disagree, merely educate and enforce the law.

AND THEY DID NOT CENSOR STEVE IRWIN, siding with Greer's insults after his death, the reason I removed all my Peta stickers against animal abuse from my work area.

At least Steve Irwin's fans do not go around killing those who hate crocodiles...

PETA's view and antics are so over the top that they are not taken seriously by most Americans. They have turned themselves into silly side show freaks. This is a shame. I think we need an advocacy group to protect animals against inhumane cruelty and supports research and education on animal/human relations. But when you portray yourself as a irrational lunatic no one even hears your message over your tactics..

ineffective, because of the fact ninety 5% persons understand that PETA are FREAKS. not something they say has any cost in besides. they're going to lie and terrorize to get their ingredient for the era of. not the sign of somebody who has a valid arguement to make.

"Counterproductive and ineffective."
yep. when they print people's homes and work addresses along with the phrase,
'[burning] is an effective way to get your point across'
I start thinking they are not such a great group of people.
And then I go out and jump in my fur-covered limousine and cruise.

The only PETA members around here only stand by their convictions when it's convenient. If their own members won't follow their ideals, why should we bother listening
