Hey, I have a 1986 300zx turbo and it has a weird problem. When the car is cold it runs great. I have a mustang 5.0 and my 300zx is faster then it when the engine is cold. But once the engine starts to warm up its ALOT slower. It's like a totally different car. When it's warm it feels good under 2000 RPM's but once you take it over that it will kind of stumble and doesn't have nearly as much power. It only stumbles on HARD acceleration though. If you keep the pedal half-way to the floor and let the RPM's slowly climb it doesn't have any problem. Also when I say the engines cold I mean only the first couple minutes after you start it up. It feels great cold but after about 3 minutes it just falls on its face. Does anyone have any idea what it could be? I'd really appreciate it. Thanks

Closed loop operation during warm up the air flow meter does little. After the engine heats up the suspect airflow meter is not reading correctly. Check for codes "mode three" on the ECM. The ecm is located right hand kick panel and held in place with two phillips headded screws remove the ecm still plugged in and flip back the clear cover to turn the diagnostic screw gently to the right count the one flash two flash then three flash and turn the diag. screw back gently to the right. red and green Leds will flash each code three times do this with a/c turned off. You have a factory shop manual don't you? Delta press print them. Call ask your nissan dealer for the address and buy one soon!

When the engine heats up, things will expand. It sounds like you are losing compression. You may have a blown head gasket or a cracked head. Take it in for a compression check. Look and see if you have water in your oil or vice versa. A compression check will tell you a lot about what's going on. If comp. is good, come back here and let us know. I hope this helps.

you could desire to objective changing your catalytic converter. confirm you verify the air clear out that's self too. (My 80 4 300zx swifter had this concern as quickly as and it replace into simply by fact the airfilter replace into so clogged no air replace into getting to the engine.) that's recommended to verify the engine coolant temperature sensor additionally, and verify out changing the thermostat. you would be able to think of i'm nuts, however the thermostat is a low priced area that has some result on overall performance. have you ever tried a uncomplicated music up? New Distributor cap, Rotor, Plug wires, Spark plugs, and gas clear out? in case you have a clogged gas clear out you could desire to have severe overall performance issues.

its fuel injected,so it dosent have a choke..the computer relys on the thermostat to determine when to stop the choke mode ..so the choke mode works ..lol there must be a bad spot in the throttle positioning sensor...or the Map sensor could have a vacume leak ...give it a good look over it could be a vacume hose
