Caffine puts you on a high/elated feeling/level when you have had sufficient amounts. When that level is not maintained, you begin to feel the difference - you may get tired, moody or depressed. Like a sugar high caffiene works in a similar way, it can make you hyperactive. If you are hyperactive, your doctor may very well tell you or have told you to go off all stimulants and minimize them as much as possible. The people around you may be telling you to be quiet and bee-have, which, well as we know...does the trick and drives them up the wall!

google.com it and see what you can find. There's probably a ton of information on the net to answer you Q.

Good luck. Hope this helped. Send the info this way once you find it...if you want to...

I think it makes me depressed because I am addicted. I get either one pop/coffee in the morning and I feel pretty good. A few hours later I feel anxious, and after that I feel depressed. I really wish I was off caffeine for good..but right now I can't do that.

Caffeine is a stimulant and it affects the central nervous system in many ways. Caffeine is overly consumed and many people have developed dependencies unbeknownst to them. The largest effect it has that may affect your mood is that it can interfere with normal sleep cycles. Improper rest for a extended period of time can cause exhaustion - not really organic depression, cutting down your use is best missy! :-)

A bit of caffeine during "down" times makes me feel a bit better. Usually I'm down coz I'm in pain though, and my particular kind of pain is helped by caffeine intake. So...I have to say I disagree, but that doesn't mean someone else doesn't have the experience you're asking about.

I think coffee can work both ways. It does for me. I have started to wonder with the amount of people that are becoming mentally ill, and having problems if that could be a partial reason. It seems that since coffee shops have been popular, this is when people have started to go sort of crazy. I think it can have other effects also. I know there are some trua addicts that will deny it to the end, but it is just like a drug habit.

It gives you a boost when you are tired, but when it gets out of your system, its back to being tired. That drop in energy may make you feel depressed. It is a drug.

I'm not sure if it makes you depressed, but it will give you headaches if you stop taking it suddenly.
