I think alot of Christians don't understand that we as non-christians feel like we are having it shoved down our throats because they don't know how often we get it from them...

Like if there is only 1 Buddhist family in a mostly Christian community, then guess who all the neighbors are going to try to do their missionary work on...

what do you think?

I guess the biggest problem is not the assumption that people are Christian. I guess the biggest problem is considering it a defect to be happy with your chosen path...

And already... most of the people on here assume that I have not met any Christians who DIDN'T do this... or that I don't have a few Christians friends that I get along very well with....

Yes people assume that I am a Christian and if they figure out I am not one I get endless offers to come to countless churches and it gets annoying after a while. They however think they are helping me so I try not to be rude to them.

As a Christian, I do understand that there are Christians who are over zealous and are Bible Beaters. I don't like that approach, even before I got saved, I couldn't stand people who did that. When I got saved the person who told me about the love of God, sat down and explained it to me without shoving the bible down my throat.

So I can understand why non-Christians are turned off to it. I'm sorry that there are Christians out there who by pushing it on you have turned you off, and I hope and pray that you will meet Christians who will not push it on you.

I heard a phrase that was by a pastor from years ago as far as what Christians should be as a witness, that we are to witness, and if nessesary, use words, what that means is show it in the way we live our lives.

I have met people though who have assumed that I am a Christian even before I was saved, just because I'm a nice guy.

Hope that this helps. Take care and God Bless.

I was told once by someone I used to work with, "You don't go to church!? You look like somebody who goes to church every Sunday!" Another time: When I first met you, I thought to myself that you were too much of a goody two shoes to talk to us.

Someone thought I was a Christian because I don't wear shorts or show a lot lf skin.
All those people are totally wrong about me. I'm at the point where I don't like Christmas and Easter anymore.

And you forgot to mention the torture of Christmas Carols from the middle of November until New Year's. Where's the love for Halloween?

I've got a pretty good education on world religions so I Get this assuming from both Christians and Pagans myself.

Mostly from other pagans who assume my rather extensive Biblical knowledge qualifies me as a Christian.

As far as Christians proselytizing, that is on of the tenants of their religion. Unfortunately many have not matured on the Christian path and become over zealous in their efforts to spread the Christian Gospel; not realizing that they are pushing people away and not taking time to consider that it is often their actions that agitate people and taking responsibility to change (repent) their ways.

I don't associate with many people that don't know pretty much everything about me. I have a pretty tight-knit group of friends and they know I'm an atheist. It simply isn't a topic that a lot of strangers bring up with me. Thankfully I haven't been bothered by many proselytizers so I don't feel that I need to fight anyone off with a stick..... I DO feel that the country in which I reside is being dominated by the religiously inclined and that most of them conveniently (and intentionally) turn a blind eye to the constitutional concept of "separation of church and state".

im truly sorry that youve had a bad experience. we arent out to offend you or make you feel aquard or bad by telling you about God, we just sincerly want every one to hear the good news. by telling people it shows how much we care for them, even if we dont know them well. your right. sometimes we, as christians can get alittle off track and focus in on only the people that look "foreign" or are athiests or of a different and sadly mistaken religion. and obsess overthat. we should be talking to everyone. not just those who "stick out". we need to be good ambasadors for christ. not pamphlet pushers. but also, if you hear someone tell you about God, and then 2 days later someone else tells you the same thing, and then later that day someone else says the same truth as the other 2, well remember, although it might be alittle too much to take all at once, those 3 people had no idea you already heard and didnt want to be told again. they arent trying to push you into anything. its just bad timing.

There's many Christians in the world but there's also other religious. No one should assume that you are Christian though and you have the right to not tell someone else your religion and no one should make fun of you because your not their religion. Remember, American's history has a lot of religious problems.

I am a Christian, and I just want to say that if you feel Christianity is being shoved down your throat, that is sad. Not sad as in lame or stupid, but actually sad. That is not the way the gospel was intended to be spread. I'm sorry that's the way you're hearing it.

I am Christain but I dont shove things down peoples throats. I do not want to scare anyone away or for them to think as you do. WHen people first meet me they have no idea I am Christian.. when they find out, they see how I live my life and then ask ME about God and my thoughts.

Well, when you are in the minority I think your subconscious is telling you something. Or, maybe common sense is troubling your conscience. Have you ever considered why Christianity is the largest religion in the world? Do you ever wonder if God had anything to do with that or is it just a coincidence? Is it possible that divine providence has an influence on revealing the truth to the people of the world?

The apostle Paul writes, “And every day the Lord added to their group those who were being saved.” (Acts 2:47) When the Sanhedrin were contemplating what to do with the apostles Gamaliel gave sound advice: If what they have planned and done is of human origin, it will disappear, but if it comes from God, you cannot possibly defeat them. You could find yourselves fighting against God! (Acts 5:38-39)
