Seriously, I'm sick of having swollen ankles. And please, no jokes. My mother loves salt & recently had a stroke. I don't want to be next in line.

MRS DASH!! girl go out and buy these seasonings. you can eat ANYTHING with this stuff. it's NO sodium, not low sodium. this stuff is basically herb combinations that are unique and so flavorful. and just experiment with herbs, like basil, oregano, thyme, rosemary and marjoram. also crank up the use of peppers and garlic which are great for the heart!! click on the website of mrsdash. you will love the options! good luck to you and your mother.

You can cut the amount of salt in the food by not using extra salt. For instance say you are making Chilli, use the seasoning packet, but do not add extra salt, because the seasoning packet already has enough salt, and when you use the tomatos that too has extra salt. Just cook what you normally cook, just use less salt and substitute salt for other seasonings like fresh garlic, fresh herbs, and onions, and that Mrs Dash I think it is called is very good and adds a lot of flavor. You are right. There is a web site (free) that has all kinds of recipes. Salt free and many others. It is nancyskitchen@yahoo.com. It is super, if you want to cook really good try it and see if you can find the recipes you want. If you ask the members they will answer you with many great recipes.

I hope you meant to say salt in your question [not sodium]. You could try using a little less salt in everything, to reduce your intake.
