since it's a sin for a man to lust after a woman, are we being hateful, careless or selfish to not dress modestly?

Matt 18:6 But whoever shall cause one of these little ones who believe in me, to sin, it were better for him (or her) that a millstone were hanged about his (or her) neck, and that he (or she) were drowned in the depth of the sea.

I Tim 2:9 In like manner, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefastness and sobriety; not with braided hair, and gold or pearls or costly raiment;

10 but (which becometh women professing righteousness) through righteous works.

Thanks sister for the much needed discussion on this subject.

just as it is a sin for a man to lust after a woman it is also a sin for a woman to lust after a man. I think it is great to look good and make yourself feel good; but if you intentions are to get attention from others then I believe that is wrong. You have to make that decision on how you look and what others may think. That is if you are that troubled w/ it. Sounds like you already have a clue.

Either that, or you are being prideful of your appearance. Or you enjoy the pain that you cause others. I do not know you or your motivations, so I cannot tell. But I must ask the question every man asks; why do women dress provocatively, then get upset at men when we look? If you did not want us to look, you would not dress that way in the first place.

Careless. Your question is kind of phrased to women, but I'll give you a man's answer. If I am feeling like I can't look at a woman without sinning in, let's say in my heart, then I look at only the parts of her that make me recognize her as a human being first. It usually works for me to look at a woman's eyes, but that can break down if she is attracted to me and shows it. Then we're headed for Sin City.
I wouldn't call it hateful for a woman to dress immodestly. Manipulative, maybe.

Ha ha long live the sinners if lusting is sinning. Show me one person who dont lust for something. 'Lust' is not just directed to women. One might lust for a Ferrari, a sea front house, a trip to moon, a vacation, a million $ lotto, a designer dress, that juicy burger, a candle light dinner..... it goes on. By this definition - religion is dead - c'mon lets celebrate!!!!!!!!!

Hatred? I hardly think so. I think that for both genders lust is just one small corner that makes up the total picture of human sexuality and is just as valuable as all the other experiences one can have.

It doesn't really matter how you dress, we as men are going to lust. That is the way we are and your manner of dress has little to do with it. I suggest you worry about more important things.

I will honestly say that I am disappointed at the provocative way so many young women dress. I fear for them. When I was young, I wanted to show off too. Now I'm embarrassed that I dressed and acted the way I did.

I think what some women wear can cause men to lust after them. There's nothing wrong with dressing comfortable, but when it's showing off alot of cleavage and skin, I think it's too far. I know when it comes to my wife, I prefer to her dress conservatively. But I know she won't go overboard and show off too much skin either.

I think women need to think more about what they wear, because I feel showing off too much skin sends the wrong messages.

its a fine line. I am a dude, and i love women...obviously We are extremely attracted to them physically. but that doesnt mean you have to go around wearing a snowmobile suit, or turtlenecks all the time. But dont fuel the fire either, Wearing a floss bikinni because the attention you get makes you feel good is a dangerous game. And it is definatelly hard for a man to think pure, whe all we see is flesh.
