We are finishing our basement and wondering if there is a certain kind of insulation that we should use to help prevent mildew.

mildew as you know is caused by moisture and darkness (lack of sun light). If you have moisture in the basement now, no type of insulation will keep it dry. So, to your question, regular batt type fiberglass insulation is fine to use. If you have mildew now, invest in an inexpensive dehumidifier.
