Just curious because I have a 50" LCD that's plugged into a $2 power strip...Do all power strips protect from power strikes or are the cheap ones just for multiple outlets? Should I buy a better one to protect my TV?

Power strips are nothing more than multiple outlets, with no surge protection at all. They offer no protection against surges. Surge Protectors are much better, but even better is a UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) that's rated high enough to keep your tv running during a brownout, and has the same surge protection capabilities of a surge protector. If you've got a 50" LCD, spend the extra money to protect it with a UPS. Below is a link to a UPS that'll do the job for you, just as an example.

No not all power strips protect power surges. The cheap ones are just for muti outlets. The more expensive ones have the surge protections. the best ones actually have fuses in them.

As said get yourself a better strip, the higher number of Joules that it will block the better. If the power bar doesn't have it, then also get a surge blocker that goes into the cable or satellite connection to block any surges that come through that source.

NO. Don't trust any power strip, especially a cheap one. When your gone, un-plug it if you have a lot of storms around where your at, atleast buy a better PS. They do help, but they can't exactly stop everyone. One thing I would suggest if you are gonna have it plugged up all the time, buy a UPS, or a "backup battery". They sell 'em at staples, office depot etc.

the president has a awesome volume of potential. no longer only does he signal costs into regulation, he could also opt for to do line vetoes, which permits the president to take out the stuff he would not like, and signing statements (i imagine it truly is what they are called) the position the president can upload issues he needs to a invoice. earlier president bush, those "rights" of the president (that weren't in any respect extremely used using stability-of-potential fears) were infrequently exercised. those days, in spite of the indisputable fact that, Bush has carried out what he can to modify regulations he would not like. bush has also tried contained in the previous to instate acquaintances of his into positions of potential contained in the authorities. it really is why our presently-democrat-led congress holds those 5-second classes in the course of the holiday journeys at the same time as congress is formally closed - to circumvent bush from sneaking a chum of his right into a effective position devoid of congress being there to approve or disapprove of the nominee. so yea, the president has extremely some potential. regrettably, which skill Bush has extremely some potential even although he's a lame duck as we communicate and would't do a lot thinking his social gathering is contained in the minority in congress. with any luck the subsequent president will be somewhat better careful and not in any respect make the authorities branch so effective because the finest time I checked it really is a authorities for the folk and by skill of the folk. One man or woman isn't allowed to run the teach; it truly is what we call a tyranny or monarchy.
