What are the penalties, if such a law exists, for breaking this law?

Thanks Marissa. What is your definition of an "aggressor" then? Does a person who attacks in "self-defence" also enjoy the definition of "aggressor"? How, in this context, can aggression possibly end, when "aggressors" are joined by "defenders" in this world of aggressiveness?

If you are asking about the war, I think you have been answered above already that we have to fight back if we are attacked. I just need to add that if someone is attacked and a war is declared, we have to fight. No option. Doesn't matter than if that's the month of Ramadan.

I'm pretty sure Shariah law doesn't permit such actions during ANYtime of the year! Ramadhan is a holy month and any kind of violence is not allowed. So no wars. Here's a website that addresses issues regarding Shariah law. http://www.shariah.net

Shariah Law -- PROHIBITS BOMBING AND UNNCESSARY KILLING -- whether Ramadhan or not.

UNJUST fighting and killing of someone is a TRANGRESSION AND SIN in ISLAM. but when people attack my family, my country, my country people -- then it is my responsibility to try making PEACE with the enemy. but if the enemy denies my peace and freindship and is still hellebnt on hurting people i love or even me, then i need to take a stand and SELF-DEFEND. so in this case, fighting which is a sin will become permissible.

u can understand this verse best with the verse 190 -191 in same surah.
Al-Baqara | 286 verses | The Cow سورة البقرة
Sura #2 | Madina
190 Fight in the way of Allah against THOSE WHO FIGHT AGAINST U, BUT BEGIN NOT HOSTILITIES. Lo! Allah LOVETH NOT AGRESSORS.
191 And slay them wherever ye find them, and DRIVE THEM OUT of the places WHENCE THEY DROVE U OUT, for persecution is worse than slaughter. And FIGHT NOT WITH THEM AT the INVIOLABLE PLACE OF WORSHIP UNTIL THEY ATTACK YOU THERE, but IF THEY ATTACK YOU(there) THEN SLAY THEM. Such is the reward of disbelievers.

ONLY WHEN ATTACKED. -- those words should be given attention to.
