I think powders are messy, why not just try using deodorant soap?
If that doesn't work go to your local health food store. They have a deodorant "rock" which is healthy and non-toxic. It sounds strange but really works. My husband uses it because of deodorant allergy and it controls his odor so a little would definately control a little girl's odor! Besides, it's scent free and non marking too. I included a link so you know what I'm talking about, the second one has it for .99 cents (scroll down). They last a really long time too.

I have a 6 year old son and I know what you mean. Sometime she wears deodorant when it is really hot b/c he wants to. But, since yours is a girl...I would try some powder first. If it doesn't work, use a gentle deodorant and isn't scented too strong...like dove. I have sensitive skin and I can only use dove deodorant.

That's way normal, she probably plays actively at school.good for her, so she has to bathe when she gets home, no biggie. At least she is active and not sitting on her rear at school.
Don't use deodorant on a child! they have aluminum in them and have been known to cause cancer. there is however a deodorant that is aluminum free and all natural. try walmart or the Internet.

A bath is a good place to start. Then get nice soaps, shampoos and things. She can use lotions, and maybe so deodorant if you feel it is absolutely needed. There is not age when to start, but she is a little young.

Does she come home with the musty smell frequently or was this a one time thing?
Maybe it was something she ate- was there something new/different in her lunch that day?
I also like the powder ideas from the various folks as an alternative to deoderant.

Give her a bath! If she seems overly dirty or smelly, give her a bath every day using mild soap. If it happens everyday you may want to ask her pediatrician for a proper treatment, but if it only happens on days when she's overly active, don't worry about it. An extra bath wont kill her!

I think you are bathing her too often and stripping all the natural oils from the body. It's bad for her skin.

Try some scented lotion. Playtex (Baby Magic) makes a good one for babies that smells really good. I am assuming you are hesitant about starting deodorant right now so try this first.
