This person is just confused, and a bit on the insensitive side. They have a hard time imagining someone having a problem that they themselves have never experienced.

I know that being told to "get over it" is not helpful, but chalk it up to someone else's issues, not related to your own. And focus on getting the right help for your anxiety problem.

I have the exact same problem! Social anxiety is not something you can just "get over", but it is something you can fake not having with enough practice. When they tell you that, you tell them to "just get over" fear of falling, heights, bugs etc. Everyone has fears, or things that make them uncomfortable. No one has the right to be an insensitive jerk about it.

Tell em' to "get some intelligence". Only someone who's never been there, ignorant to the disorder, would say something so insensitive. Don't take it on.

I would tell them while you're sure they mean well you are sticking with your doctor's advice in how to manage yourself. Not everyone is aware of conditions that occur within the brain. It's sort of the last unknown in medical science....

Well you cant just get over it.Considering it a disorder.Tell that person your problem maybe that person will be more considerate and reassuring to you concerning that it is infact a problem that you cannot get over so easily. If that person were ever in your shoes youd be saying it to that person.Tell him or get over it they say.nothing will get solved if you dont act on it.

Do not respond at all. They cannot understand, so don't even try to explain.

Tell them: "It's a pity you don't seem to be able to understand my condition, however if you'd ever like to know about it, I'm always available to chat."
