I am about to go on my first ever date with a girl. We are both in college and take a class together - she is 19, I am 21.

The main question I have is this: what would be the best thing I could say/ask her to break the ice?

Another thing I want to know is this: could you please tell me some things that I should avoid discussing/bringing up at all costs, as this is our first date, and I would like to make it to a second date if possible?

Thank You in advance for your input!

Talk about things that you have in common. School, family, whatever. You guys can use it as a time to get to know each other. Movies are a good date because you don't really talk, you aren't supposed to. After the movie, talk about the movie, other movies or the other loud people in the theater. Pop, popcorn, the previews. Whatever you want. You can go to an inexpensive restaurant, afterwards, and then, you can talk about other movies.

Hmm..well definately don't mention any ex-girlfriends during a date. Also, tell her how pretty or beautiful she looks. Every girl loves compliments. Ask her how her day was, and if she says it wasn't too great ask why. Also, listen to what she has to say. Don't look at any other girl or there probably won't be a second date. Flirt with her a couple of times during the night, but try to stick to the conversation. Don't interrupt her. And when she asks you something, give her your honest answer. Good Luck on your date, and hope ya have fun. :]

Well, eventually you'll probably want to talk about these things...BUT....I would avoid the subjects of sex, religion and politics...you will find out about that,in time...I sure do hope she's not a transvestite, atheist Liberal...what a bummer that would be!!
Just have a wonderful time, hon. Ask about her classes, her interests, music is always a good, safe topic. The best way to keep from having awkward silences is to get people talking about themselves!!

it's easy...just ask her questions about her life and her opinions on things.
Talk as little about yourself as possible.
Girls love a first date where they get to do all the talking and they hardly learn anything about their date.
After they get home and realize you didn't talk about yourself at all, you will seem so mysterious and interesting.
That leads to a second date. Good luck Romeo!

just talk about music, TV, movies, sports, etc. Anyways, at all costs, keep the convo light. Don't talk about your friend in jail, or you're great aunt's funeral, or how depressed you are these days.

Don't discuss religion or politics...........on the first date, for sure...
(lol.......unless maybe... that's the class you have, together...)

Be yourself... she likes SOMETHING about you... she's going out with you, right???

Good luck, hon!
