I have had a 1975 Dodge with a 440, 2 1977s with 360s, a 1990 with the V-6, a 1980 with a built 5.9, a 1997 with a built 5.9 injected in a 4x4, an 83 with a 318, and now I have a Quad cab with a Hemi. I have never had a thing go wrong with any of them but normal maintenance, tires and breaks, other than a water pump in my 97 at 138,000 miles. I built the 97 4x4 to run fast and get mileage and it did both . I put 190,000 hard and fast miles on it. On the other hand my Dad bought a 78 Dodge and had major electrical problems. Just proves you can get a lemon in anything. I was the head of a transit system in Colorado, and we had 4 Ford Power Strokes, (International engines for those who don't know) and they weren't really problems, other than the mileage, 8-10, the lousy front breaks, and the constant and expensive maintenance. After over 30 years in the motor vehicle industry the truth is that no one vehicle, in this case pickups is superior to any other. In reality you drive what you like, what you know, and in many cases what dad drove. All the American Mfg. made some crap in the seventies, and early 80s. but there were still some good ones made that are still going. The trucks we have today are really light years ahead of the old ones, but at what a price. If you are truly a Ford lover then it must really get under your skin to know that the Dodge Brothers were a major supplier of parts, and yes engines to old Henry Ford back in the day. By the way you state that 95 % of the Dodge owners had problems. This is a major exageration. In fact for the years you mentioned, Only GMC, not Chevy, and Toyota had less problems with warranty failure than Dodge. Ford has had many more recalls than Dodge. Of course it really depends on which Aotomotive magazine, or reporting company you believe. The truth is Ford does make and sell more 1/2 Ton pickups than any Mfg. so they are bound to have more problems.

We bought an '06 Dodge Mega cab with a Hemi, not diesel, in February. We love it. Out here, Dodge's out sell Fords. Fords aren't holding up to the physical beatings they take on the roads and the sub-zero temperatures. Personally, I hate the way the '06 Fords handled. I've never owned a Ford and friends who do have Fords won't let me near them as I'm notorious for killing them. Ultimately, it comes down to personal choice.
Did I mention that my husband's a diesel mechanic and he won't own a Ford? I do his books and the majority, I'd say an easy 70% average, are Fords that are in the shop. Most still under warranty and needing major engine repair.

I don't mind Dodge trucks, I sure wouldn't own a Ford, those to me are the biggest pieces of crap on the road, I personally would prefer a Chevy or GMC truck. Now those are real trucks. And as far as Ford is concerned I heard that they are going to discontinue using the Powerstroke diesel, because Ford bought out Cummins and will use the Cummins diesel in their pickups. I personally think that as far as diesel engines go, the Duramax that GM uses is by far the BEST diesel engine that any of the pick up's have.
I like Dodge trucks, I think they look nice, ride nice and run nice too.

I have owned 1 ford vehicle and I promise it wont ever happen again. Dodge is by far the best vehicles on the road. Followed by Chevrolet.I would for sure rather have a worn out Dodge or Chevy than a Brand new show room ford.

hey, everyone has there own taste as to what vehicles they own.
some like Chevy's, some like gmc"s some like ford products and those are the only ones that they will ever buy. my father was that way, he would only buy Chevy products, and my father in law would only drive ford stuff. personally i am on my fourth dodge
ram 1500-2500s pickups and i have never had a problem with any one that i have owned. and i have used them hard. the last time i checked the recall rate on fords were a lot higher than the rates of dodges, chevys being first to rate that honor of being the most recalled. of course, it just may be me, i make sure that all the maintenence is taken care of at the manufactures recommended times.

The Ford trucks are definitely the best looking trucks but a guy at work just spent about 1600 bucks to get his transmission fixed after only 100,000 miles. He said it is a real common problem with Fords. I like the Cummins diesel engines but Dodge needs to update their styling.

Wow! Are your ignorant or what? That statistic is completely incorect. The cars that dodge have had the most problems with are the 1980s cars not trucks. Their trucks are some of the most reliable out there.
