My husband and I rarely need one, but we are both in school and both have a test on the same day.

My son is 3, it will be early morning and I will be back home before he even wakes up, I just need someone to sit in my apartment for 3 hours in the morning. What's the best way to find someone I can trust?

Closest relative is 5 hours away and only friend reliable with kids is due to have a baby the week before we need the sitter, so she won't be available.

Hi! I actually took a course at the Red Cross when I was twelve that was specifically called "Babysitter Training Course." It teaches (future babysitters) how to do CPR, the Himleck manuever, how to handle a child, dicipline (no spanking), and basic child hygene. I don't know if you have a local Red Cross but you should definatly check it out. The kids who go through these courses normally end up on a list and you can call anyone on there. They have a certificate that shows they have passed all portions of the class and fully understand the procedures. Hope this helps!

Well since your closest family member is 5 hours away and your most reliable friend is due to have a baby my suggestion is ask that friend if she knows of someone she may trust.

Always interview them and ask for references if possible 2 or more.

call your local YMCA, they teach babysitting classes. When the class is done, they generally keep a database of the graduates that want work, THOSE are the kids you want to hire. Good luck on your test, and have a nice night out some time.

Talk to people you know and get recommendations.
Maybe your friend can't do it, but they know somebody that can. Talk to them and check out their house.
Also consider daycare where you have to drop your child off. A lot of places have registered daycare, where they are registered with the city and get certified.
Whatever place you choose, make sure you check it out in person and trust your instincts. If something seems off to you, don't leave your child there.

you can go through your local church, they often have alot of people willing to sit with children..also you can call places like the YWCA or you can call a local school and ask them...my son is enrolled in Headstart and they gave me a list of people and agencies in the area that offer babysitting..Just make sure and get references before you give anyone the job.
