Property prices are also a consideration, as there may be a good area, but if the prices to live there are unrealistic then it would be hard to relocate there.

Even though CA is the most open-minded state, it is also too expensive right now thanks to the PC industry. It is outrageous cost wise. The idea choice would be the Southwest: Arizona and New Mexico. There are so many ex-Californians living there. Cost of living is lower in AZ and much cheaper in NM unless you are in Sedona which is more expensive. But NM has so much vast open space and land at great prices. Many people love retreating to the Southwest for a yoga or spa retreat while enjoying the beauty of nature. Take a trip down there, you'll see how beautiful it is down there and how open and spiritual it is.

SoCal is a great place for open minded people. I didnt realize how conservative and close minded many parts of the US are until I made a road trip through the Northwest!
