and other countries and the people of these countries don't see a penny in benefits, shouldn't Americans demand our government show accountability for all the money we send to these governments? The people of these countries don't see a penny in benefits because their government is corrupt. What changes could we, Americans, make to assure the PEOPLE in Mexico got that assistance instead of that corrupt government?

We are already sending money to their governments. If it is not being used for it's purpose, we should stop it. If the same money was used to help the truly poor who HAVEN'T illegally entered the USA and we could assure it went TO the ones who needed it, wouldn't that be better than giving it to the corrupt government?

Our government should demand some accountability for how that money is being used. It was meant for a good purpose-and many times not used for that. Those who want it-should be glad they get it and use it properly.

Wouldn't you ask a friend if he wanted a big amount of money from you--what it is for . Especially if he/she wants it often.

Monopolies in Mexico are as guilty of failing the poor as the government. Any business or aid that goes to Mexico monopolies and government benefit. USA can only appeal to their social conscience

America sends every third world country money. While it sends Mexico money it sure aint the one that recieves the biggest piece of the pie.

Though I would prefer they spend more quality(money) time on the US it will never happen. We spend far too much money looking after the world trying to be the big kid on the block to look after our own problems. Just think what could have been done with that half a TRILLION dollars spend on the Iraq campain just so we could secure cheaper gas for our SUV's.

I think that's an excellent idea. No program is immune to fraud or corruption, it's doubtful that there's good oversight of our foreign aid program....countries like Mexico have bad corruption problems, their leaders tend to fill their pockets with money, and let their people starve. Or, at least they pick the really hungry ones, and put them in front of the TV camera...

they would have to get an overseer of the money. like a payee. but why does it always have to be America to see that people are treated right. for that reason the Mideast is angry with us. the other country's hate us so much, some of the people are dieing to get over here. and were letting them in, like we owe them something. in my opinion we owe only to the native Americans.
that excludes the Mexicans from Mexico. different set of Indians.

Our governments (US and Canada, among others) actually want the corrupt governments in places like Mexico and Haiti to stay in power. They can depend on thugs like Vicente Fox to stay bought. If somebody relatively honest like Chavez actually wins an election somewhere they do their best to overthrow or kill him.

Why is America the pocket money giver. These countries have workers, they can work and earn money for themselves.
