You could try some bitter tasting stuff found at almost any pet store or if you don't want to do that, give him some toys and when you catch him chewing on the furniture pick him up and tell him NO! and then take him to something (like a toy) that you will allow him to chew on and pretty soon he will get it that he is supposed to chew on the toys and not the furniture.

after the dog chews up the furniture have a stern tone and show some disipline e.g. if the dog has a certain fave toy or something after he chews it take it away and when he comes asking for it show him the couch repeat this until the dog stops

Make sure there are plenty of items your dog can safely chew on. Fill a kong with peanut butter and freeze it. Get some rawhides. Just be consistent when you are with your pooch, and stop the bad behavior, and give him a substitute that is okay for him/her to have. Good Luck! :)

Sell all of your furniture. Then the dog can't chew on any, because you don't have any.

well.....i know this sounds terrible........but my dog chewed a chair while i was gone to work so I couldnt really discipline him since I didnt catch him. But later on that week he was chewing the arm of the chair while i was standing there. He got a good spanking right there------i also very loudly scolded him.....i told him that was not his to chew and presented him with HIS toys that he could chew. He NEVER chewed anything else again. He knew he had betrayed my trust at that point. I provide him with plenty of bones and toys. I think I had an easy case.........I know other people have had terrible problems....in fact a friend of mine........her Boxers took her recliner OUTSIDE and mauled it when she was at work.

When you are home, use an aluminum soda/beer can filled with a few pennies and shake it. The dog doesn't like the sound and will stop. When you are not home, your dog should be in a kennel until it is old enough to know better.

whenever your dog chews the furniture, yell at it and tap its nose, then put it outside to let it know it did wrong.
