I heard that if you get pregnant while you are wearing braces it will mess up your teeth and you will have to wear them for a couple of extra years. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this?

No, its just during pregnancy with all the hormone changes it can affect your gum tissue, if you start inflammation you will just have to floss, brush and see the dentist more often (maybe). Just continue will your daily brushing, flossing and what not,it may not affect you because everyone is different- keep the braces spotless and everything should be okay.

I don't know of you'll wear them a couple of extra YEARS but the physical changes aren't limited to your uterus. My eyesght fluctuated my entire pregnancy...it was really annoying

OMG! Do you actually believe that? Honey don't believe everything you hear. Being pregnant the baby drains alot of calcium from your teeth to get all the calcium it needs to grow, thats why its very important to drink lots of milk, and eat foods with lots of vitamins and calcium in it. if the baby don't get the proper nutrients it needs, it will get them from ur body.

Pregnant women are encouraged to be diligent with oral hygiene. Hormonal changes can contribute to dental problems, so make sure you take good care of them.

i don't think that is true. pregnancy and your teeth, at least i don't think, have anything to do with each other.
