When I eat pasta, the pasta sometimes seems to get stuck on the way down. It causes me to be very uncomfortable (somewhere between discomfort and pain).
It either works its way down by itself or I have to spit up kind of like a baby.

Any ideas what it could be? It doesn't happen everytime I eat pasta. About 1 in every 6 or 8 times. It has only happened one time with a meal other than pasta and that was quite some time ago.

you need to tell a doctor about this problem, you might be suffering from Crohns disease or something where you can't digest the gluten from the flour the pasta is made from.
It's best for you if you go very soon, it can be determined as far as I know through a blood test and the sooner the better.

It sounds like you have a motor problem with swallowing. I knew of someone with the same thing and when I would go out to eat with him he would usually have to go to the bathroom and throw-up. There are several causes from a nerve problem, to esophageal webs. You may want to see a doc. and perhaps be scoped to see what is going on in your esophagus.

first step: go see your doctor

second step: ask for a video fluoroscopy (swallowing assessment) , maybe gastroscopy etc

Don't ignore that problem...what if ...it would be a start of cancer??? You want to catch it soon enough.
