The 737 is the most popular aircraft in the world, and has sold very well. However, do take in account the number of aircraft (6190 orders, 5009 produced). Third world countries often use old 737-200s which are poorly maintained and that's why there has been quite a bit of news about 737s crashing. But don't let it worry you, there isn't anything wrong with the 737s.

The 737 is easily the worlds most popular commercial airliner and has been flying since the early sixties. Most of the crashes in recent years have involved airlines in the developing world using older models which are not properly maintained and flown in difficult conditions. The most recent 737, the NG, has been flying since 1998 without a fatal accident until 29/9/06 and that wasn't the aircraft's fault.

Same reason more Fords crash than Volkswagons...
There are more out there, thus the higher crash rate. The 737 is the world's most popular aircraft.

I feel very safe on all Boeing aircraft, especially the 727 and 737
series planes

In August 2006, Sky News reported that whistleblowers claimed that parts being used in the Boeing 737NG model built between 1994 and 2002 were of a poor fit to the aircraft and were thus wrongly made endangering the safety of those onboard. Boeing responded by claiming the allegations were 'without merit' and that the aircraft were very safe. The whistleblowers were reported to be former auditors Taylor Smith and Jeannine Prewitt who installed the parts even though they knew of their defects.

Who cares!? Donkeys kill more people each year than plane crashes. Jeez... I am a pilot and rarely is it a plane crashes... but hundreds die daily from car crashes.

and of course we can not for get all the DRUNK PILOTS out there..most of them drink like fish
