Okay, I need highlights. And I have mid-night black hair, so what color should I highlight them?

Hi hun. I have to agree with alot fo the answers here.. black hair highlighted tends to look cheap and cheesy. I never recomend it for my clients. If you have to do somthing and have your heart set on it, Id recomend what the one gal said...deep brown. I have black hair and have tried it all......blondes reds ..highlights...all of it..fun at first but cheesy looking soon after. enjoy the richness of black hair..very few have it..play it up and flaunt it!!! Never will u see hair as shiny as a natural black haired girl!!!!

I don't think you need highlights. All natrual black hair is awsome. You should just keep it that way but if you do wnat highlights...I suggest you go with a dark brown color because you have mid night black hair right? So yeah....try a dark color.

RED! A dark red looks GREAT on black hair. Whatever you do, do NOT try go much lighter. Highlights are technically anything lighter than what you already have. If this is dyed black hair it's going to be very hard to get that black to lift. Be sure to go to a professional to have it done, they probably should so a test strand to see if it's going to lift.

Instead of highlights, ask your stylist to put panels of brown in your hair. Regular blonde highlights will look too streaky in black hair and could possibly look orangey and brassy as well. The panels of brown will lift the overall color of your hair and help it not look flat.

So it doesn't look cheap, I would go for something a few shades lighter then your hair color. Make sure you go to a professional hair salon because they will know what is best for your hair and help you pick out the best color to suit not just your hair but your skin tone as well.

highlights on mid-night black hair?
OKAY, NOT A GOOD IDEA.
if you decide not to follow myy advice, WORST IDEA EVERR, then just get them a shade lighter than your hair now so they look natural.

First of all, I don't recommend doing them yourself. I would go with a caramel or a copper. That always looks good on dark hair. You never want to go "blonde" because with your dark hair, it would look too much. So if you go to a salon (and please do) tell them you want copper or caramel highlights.

no.
if you have midnight black hair you are one of the luckiest people on earth - so few people have truly black hair. you should leave your hair natural - if your really looking to change it up, get a cute cut. DON'T HIGHLIGHT IT.
