At what point do you set your ethics aside or personal beliefs for a job? I have considered a job at a videogame store, and I feel strongly that I should remove all copies of Shooting Columbine and tell customers we no longer carry this. This game is a ticking time-bomb: I can't help but feel that after the Dawson College shooting, we should consider taking measures to stop this from happening again. It's possible that the person buying such a thing is the one in a million who may end up shooting up some place you love. It wouldn't make me feel comfortable selling such a thing -- I'd be nothing more than a digital dope pusher.

Card the kids who come in. The problem isn't with the game, it's with the fact that parents let their kids have such a game or they don't care. You force the law, they can't rent it if it's mature and they are under 17. Otherwise...it's a game, and that's all, really. Games didn't cause columbine, and anyone who thinks that is uninformed.

I agree with you that such a game is totally terrible, but there are so many things that are out of our control. I don't think that by playing that game a kid would shoot up thier school. There would have to be other problems already in place. And there isn't much we can do. I also think so many t.v. shows promote violence as well as music and videos. Again, nothing we can do. It is the parents job to moniter what their children are doing. My son loves vids and I would NEVER let him play such a game.
Parents need to step up and take responsibility for their kids.

There is really such a game out there??? That is just really sick. I can not believe that someone would try and make money off of something like that. What next, a game of 9/11 where the player is the terrorists?

I would not blame you in the least if you were to pull the game, and I would even back you for it. Is there a way that you can get a petition going to get it removed from shelves???

A young 8-yr-old girl recently watched a video of someone hanging themself - with all details, showing how to do it. So she did it. Successfully, unfortunately. Video games do affect some kinds of people.
If you are not in a position to make the decision, speak to the owner about the video, and explain your problem. If you are not given permission to remove it, then I think you would be better to quit your job, especially if you feel this is important. I'm sure you can find other work.

Its you and "maslow"...
It does not sound like you have this job, so don't take it if you can help it. I think it a bit wrong to take the job and not follow the owner's instructions. If you are part owner and can influence sales .. then by all means ..don't sell the game.

If you already have this job, either get the game removed or move on if you can.

The point at which you're going to set your beliefs aside for a job is the point where you are ashamed of God and Jesus Christ. We all know he doesn't want these things in stores and places, but the devil blocks that out and we can't see the fear that we should have for disregarding the Lord. Tell your boss what you need to tell him, and if he doesn't listen, get more witnesses, so that by two or more people all things can be confirmed. If your boss doesn't listen, then he most likely has no strong salvation.

If the decision is yours to make - go for it. I totally agree with you. Can you imagine how you might feel selling that game to a kid who ultimately became some crazed killer? I think you're a brilliant man. Go with what your instincts are telling you to do. Its people like you that make our world a safer place to live in.

card all the kids and make them bring in their parents.... thats about all you can do without losing your job. i don't believe kids get ideas from games, but i respect that you do and want to be helpful to your fellow man.
